Meanwhile, they did away with their super mild sloppa breakfast salsa, which I ordered at dinner and slathered on every taco. This gringo died a little, that day.

Whatever pepper they use just doesn't work with the citrus, though. It just tastes like sour anus and capsaicin.

I get fire sauce, it's very mild. Diablo sauce has this weird chemical flavor I don't like. I don't know why Taco Bell doesn't have a normal hot sauce that's actually at least a little hot without being all weird.

Fire sauce is the only one that uses tomato puree as a base. All the others start with corn syrup.

The real good combination is mixing mild for flavor and then diablo for heat. Their mild sauce actually has a good taste, just no heat.

Taco Bell isn't a "restaurant". Also, Fire is their only good sauce, and the difference in heat between that and Diablo is comparable to that between mild and extra-hot Golden Curry - which is to say, it's inconsequential. I've personally moved on to using a combination of Fire and Del Scorcho. There's just something wrong with using real hot sauce on fast food.

When they test food in focus groups or whatever, it’s usually in some midwestern state. Like the sort of places where people put fucking sugar in potato salad. Somehow I think that has something to do with it.

I had a friend in upper management at BK. Bout a decade ago when they changed the stick shaped nuggets to the round tempura ones (then eventually modern ones) he said the reason they changed them is because they got too many complaints nationally about them being too spicy. It was just fucking black pepper

I like these a lot, eating a full bowl is just the right amount of hurt for me. I've never had anything store bought or in a restaurant spicier than this.

Would crushed chilli sauce stuff taste like this? I don't know what's in the sauce, it has a kick, but it's also fucking delicious.

these used to be really good a couple years ago, like so good i'd eat almost a whole bag without caring that my mouth was on fire. but i think they changed it or it's just wildly inconsistent because now they're average tasting at best and the spice content varies from bag to bag.

probably a little bit of each of these
I've noticed it a few years back when the whole
"ghost pepper" trend made it to places like
Denny's and Red Robin. they marketed that
shit like they were on top of the latest trends
but in reality their legal departments figured out
the least amount of ghost pepper they can put
in their dishes and still claim that it actually
HAS ghost pepper in it
