I work in the trades and it's a big thing.
If you don't put effort in to the finished install it's obvious to anyone who knows the trade and they can see it.
Stuff like messy welds or poorly bent pipe or messy cuts or stuff not leveled correctly or lack of small things.
But lots of people want cheapest possible and lots want high quality work but don't want to pay.

honestly I was talking about manual service work like flipping burgers, not actual blue collar work. Although I'll be honest, I am suspicious about plumbers, or mechanics, or what have you. Like I don't know shit so you're gonna fuck me. So recently I decided to undertake a significant renovation without hiring anyone. We're talking taking down 2 walls, adding a supporting beam, changing the floors, redoing the walls, plastering, then paint. And looking back on it, I get why you guys are paid good money for that stuff. It sucks and it's hard. But it's like what you said, can I trust some guy to do it properly? not sure

both look comfy. like others have said, the cherry tree makes things look better by covering the ugly roof and light pole, but even the above pic is nice. having a visible mountain hanging above your town is pretty and that house is a nice ottoman-style house. just need someone to renovate its facade and it'll look better. ideally it should be clean white

she's a nice lady with great intentions but, no. I don't think it's about achieving a good end product though, it's about exactly preserving a tradition. And maybe it does take 10 years to become as intimately familiar with the entire process as the originator was. You could train 20 people to do it within a 5% variance from the original in a few months, but 5% would be too much deviation for it to be considered faithful to the tradition
