“Savory” literally means “not sweet”.
There are plenty of “not sweet” things which don’t necessarily possess umami qualities.
There are countless “borrowed” culinary terms; the fact you personally don’t like this particular one because of a combination of it being Japanese and personal associations you hold toward it which aren’t a function of the term itself is pure faggotry.
