Jerky is an essential but always buy it ahead of time. I stopped for snacks at a gas station once to try reliving childhood roadtrip experiences and it cost like $7. I bought it anyway but my enjoyment was somewhat diminished.

my favorite thing about roadtrips is eating at all the cool hole in the walls and trying different regional cuisines. makes me feel like im an a quentin tarantino movie. but i always got beef jerky, cookies, and plenty of gatorade for snacks.
