The Internet is good at helping you understand what things mean

Find recipe
Google until you know what it means

Learn
Repeat

Pick up a couple of books on technique. Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat and The Food Lab are a good start. Or you could go old school and pick up something from Pepin or even further back to Escoffier.

how'd you learn to speak?

I'm generally with this guy, but once you've figured out the basic techniques, some material on how flavour works is nice.

I like Jacob Burton's lectures. https://youtu.be/Z9L-tJxPTGY
