The heat from the cherry softens the glue so you can remove it without tearing the band or the wrapper.

I've got a couple of gurkhas in my humidor currently awaiting the weather to get a little nicer.
Once it does I like to sit out and smoke it on my patio with a nice glass of Lagavulin 16. The smokeyness of the scotch pairs perfectly with a harsh hitting aged cigar.

I may be stupid, but I always saw the label as a suggestion as to where you toss the cigar once the ash reaches that point. Usually when the cigar gets to that point it begins to taste burnt for me personally.

Definitely overpriced, but you can get basically any cigar you could think of with amazing food and drink. Everything is high quality and the service is amazing.

Just walk in and go to the basement like you belong there. It has a peninsula roof and heated floors so it feels like youre inside, but you’re technically outdoors. 10/10.

I think the best option is to not smoke in a room if you don't want it to smell like tobacco smoke.
There are devices, like rabbit air, that claim to purify and get rid of the smell, no idea if they work.
A thorough vacuuming and dusting will remove a good amount of smell.
If it's really ingrained into the walls and furniture etc the only real way to get rid is to use something like high concentrations of ozone.

A can will last me at least 4 days but I think I'm a little more sensitive to nicotine. But if you want to cut down a little you can try just leaving the portions in longer, I find most of them keep some flavor longer than the hour most people keep them in for.

In large amounts it might be. People talk about how fucked up their gums get from using really strong snus where they start peeling off and I think if you're consistently damaging your gums like that it could eventually cause cancer. People who are chain vaping really high concentrations of nicotine might be doing something similar with their lungs. But a lot of studies have been done with regular strength snus and I don't think any cases of oral cancer were found in those users.

No it’s not you fucking idiot. Nicotine is nearly identical to caffeine. Does caffeine cause cancer? No, it’s the ways you CONSUME nicotine that cause the cancer (combustion of tobacco, fermented tobacco, etc.) There’s commercially available nicotine inhalers that give you pure nicotine and nothing else. They do not cause cancer and nobody (except you) has ever claimed they do.

Yeah they use nicotine salts which are supposed to be absorbed much faster and even a moderate amount of nicotine can feel unpleasant if it hits you all at once. Tobacco also contains other compounds that can be relaxing which helps even out the effects of the nicotine.

I like to buy my cigars in bulk due to it being cheaper so I treat it a little more like a hobby, but only in that I have to take care of 50+ cigars at any time and keep them all in a good condition which pretty much comes down to 'check to see if the humidor is at the right temperature and humidity every so often'. I don't save the bands or make a notebook of cigar tastes or such.

>> No.15651933

when I say treat it as a hobby im talking about one of those guys that make youtube videos about them and its their whole persona. Cigar Guy TV or what have you, huge display of cigars behind them, all the cigars in the world, its all they talk about and embody. Theres a dozen of them for every little interest or product with a cult like following in the world. Just enjoy a nice cigar, if you get to the point that you know cigars well and buy lots of them, have refined opinions on them I still wouldn't call it a hobby. You're just a guy that likes cigars and also knows them well.

>> No.15651973

>>15651933
That's just people trying to find their youtube niche and such. I wouldn't take that as an actual reflection of most cigar smokers. That said, don't be afraid to pick up a few things, like a decent humidor and some tupperware to use to store stuff not in the humidor, some boveda packs (which you can absolutely rehumidify in distilled water, ignore their 'don't do that' nonsense) and get a selection of cigars along with some bundles of cheaper ones just so you 1. Have a bunch of cigars on hand and 2. You can see the differences and find out which one you like best because while cigars I'd say aren't quite as varied as pipe tobacco, there's still substantial differences in flavour between different blenders, types of cigars, the different tobacco used, different grades of leaf and fermentation, etc. Calling it a hobby, I mean, you can call anything a hobby, I suppose. It's the mindset more than anything. Are cigars something you enjoy having and smoking or do you make it something you focus on as a pasttime in of itself and not just 'Oh I like these cigars, I'll buy a bunch, keep them around and have them when I'm having a beer'.

It's a bit like pipe smoking in that as well. I've got nine different pipes of various makes and sizes, I keep four jars of tobacco on the go and I make sure I've always got some tins stashed away for later, but I wouldn't call myself a pipe hobbyist. I don't collect pipes or try to hunt down specific makes or brands, I don't make it a mission to try every single pipe tobacco blended and make notes on them, but I have various pipes for various different things and I do like to try new pipe tobacco, I just don't make a big deal of it, note down the flavours, etc. It's the difference between someone who knows how to cook and has the utensils and can cook well and someone who sees cooking as a hobby in of itself, if that makes sense.

Yeah supposedly it has no cases of mouth cancer associated with it but I think that might only be for the regular strength, the stronger stuff can be really irritating and I don't think they've studied that specifically yet. You can use this site to see if any stores in your area carry it though:

Nice. The original has a citrus flavor which is my favorite of the bunch if you think you might like that more than the mint and wintergreen, and it has the most moisture. But if you end up liking it you can order some online that have fruit flavorings like your apple Skoal, though they're usually flavored with some kind of berry and don't have any sweeteners added.

I'll probably end up experimenting with flavors. I like minty flavors and also dip grizzly wintergreen longcut once in awhile but its really harsh on my mouth so I try to avoid it. I dipped it exclusively for years and it fucked my gums up. All the mint flavors Skoal makes are terrible. Apple is the only one I like, it reminds me of a cigar if that makes sense.

>> No.15665136

>>15635034
No, it's pretty much there just for brand recognition and to mark it as a certain company's product. If your cigar is tasting worse, put the end to a flame and blow gently until it catches on fire, then keep blowing until the gas has all burnt out. It'll taste much better after that.

That's probably best, my favorite snus is Kronan which a lot of people hate and don't recommend trying.

I don't mind mint flavoring but a lot of them just seem to use so much that it causes more irritation. I had some with that problems when using mint snus as well. But I think Grizzly wintergreen has more nicotine which will also be harsher on your gums so you might be okay with General wintergreen.

I'm the cigar smoker who finally got some pipes because of the last threads. Very new, here are my notes so far; I got a starter pack from 4noggins and got some extra pipes from Missouri meerschaum and from Townsends (some historical clay pipes). Enjoyed the Thomas Blend for its vanilla-y flavors, loved smelling maple in my beard. Lane 1-Q is pretty good, better than the captain black cherry and amphora I tried. The Britt's Balkan is great, reminds me of a cigar. Melthley's or whatever wasn't that interesting.
Because I liked the Britt's balkan I think I'll like latakia.
I smoked too hard until I figured out the breath method.

The two most commonly used methods are the three-pack method and the Frank method.
>Three-pack Method
Let loose tobacco gently fall into the pipe, and pack lightly; repeat twice more with a more firm packing each time, but not too firm.
>Frank Method
Take a large pinch of tobacco (enough to fill the pipe), and place it over the pipe. Then gently work the the tobacco into the pipe with the edges of your thumbs to pack the pipe.

>> No.15691784

>>15637692

For lighting a pipe, don't overfill the bowl, as the tobacco will rise once lit, and you don't want it making a mess. Use a gentle flame, such as a match or a soft flame lighter (some say that butane lighters impart a chemical flavor to your tobacco, make if it what you will). Once your pipe is filled, and you've checked for good airflow, take the flame and gently hold it over the bowl, and take tiny breaths through the stem to draw the flame gently towards the tobacco. Do a few of these puffs, working around the bowl to get an even burn.

Re-light if necessary, and find a cadence that works well for you and your tobacco - too slow and it risks going out, and too fast will make it burn too hot, increase risk of tongue bite, and make your pipe gurgle (water vapor trapped in the bowl/shank from too much heat).
