Discuss fruits, rate fruits

I just had a few slices of pic related. Didn't know what to make of it at first but its growing on me. I have to wash my hands right after though because once the juice dries it smells like candied shit.

Also, post rare fruits. I enjoy trying out weird ones.

are those individual pieces as easy to grab as they look? seems like the most convenient fruit if so

Pluots are fantastic, but you can really only find them in season. They go great in a stone fruit salad with plums, peaches, and maybe a nectarine, and season with citrus zest, juice, and mint.

If you can find Koru apples, give them a shot. It's got the perfect bite of a honeycrisp with a little tartness to offset the sweet. Probably the perfect munching apple for me.

If you want to go for something you really can't find stateside, go onto amazon and order some cashew apple juice. They can't really transport the fruit because it bruises so easily and has a short shelf life, but you can experience it in juice form. It's... interesting but really good.

Mom keeps giving me the same fruits from the grocery store. Tangerines and mangos are nice though.

The most rare fruit I've tried is monstera deliciosa. It was growing outside some place near my house, so I took one and let it ripen. Really interesting flavor, very tropical with a lot of that pineapple enzyme feel (though apparently it's just acid?) and neat spectacle from all the green scales flaking off to reveal little soft fruit kernels.

>>15560861
I think the rind can only be separated that well if the fruit is really ripe. But then you have to cut through that rind and deal with the latex that it leaks.

>>15560839
I've never been a big fan.

>Guyabano
>Soursop

You can get these from Florida; many asians in FL grow these in their backyard. The texture is like stringier mango (if you didnt know before, mango is fibrous). The taste is tart to sweetly tart, but not sour like lemon. Can be very fragrant. It goes well in shake because it's rather neutral.

The skin is thorny and snake-like; again similar skin to mango, but tougher. When you buy one either fro market or back of some truck, they tend to look kinna shit (brown patches, bruise spots, off-colored) but this normal. Aim for consistency in those features. The flesh inside is quite resilient, not as likely to go bad as suggested from the skin.

A house that I used to live in had a passionfruit vine running over the fence. Would get huge harvests and made jam one time. Came out really nice. The flavor was preserved pretty well and the crunchy seeds provided nice texture.
