What is the best Chili? Beans or no beans? Reccomendations also for canned alternatives to Hormel.

>> No.15512651

Stagg or Wolf, with beans and spicy. But making it is 10x better.

I disagree with making it yourself. All someone has to do is find a good recipe and can it and everyone can have great chili.

The spices in a high quality chili are degraded by the canning process.
Mass-market chili just goes for a pleasant flavor that vaguely approximates chili.

>> No.15512773

So you just eat the chili as is without beans? That seems like something you'd put on a chili dog instead of a bowl of chili.

A good recipe is a good recipe. It doesn’t magically turn bad when you make more
of it, except to faux-snob fags like you who think showing disdain proportional to a product’s level of popularity/availability makes them appear sophisticated to others.

it really does. they use the cheapest ingredients and it can sit on shelves for months. if you think that doesn't make it turn bad compared to fresh, then you're a fucking pleb tastelet manbaby dumbfuck puddle of monkey turd

This is wrong lol mass produced canned goods will always be inferior to fresh.

Anyways, yes beans. Texasfags cope, the majority of people who eat chili are fine with beans. Cant help you with the other question because I dont eat canned.

>> No.15513362

the best way to do it if your a lazy fuck is to have a giant ceramic bowl

then you buy Wolf Chili with no beans, but you also buy the beans that are called "chili beans" to add them back in, diced tomatoes that say "ready for chili" on them, and a pack of shredded taco cheese

you put all your cans together in the bowl and heat in the micro, then you toss a dollop of taco cheese on it, stir it into the middle and bottom of the bowl, then toss another dollop and repeat the process

then you eat this concoction and enjoy but feel ashamed for being too lazy to make homemade chili

I find Hormel is a bit too sweet to me, very heavy on the tomato taste. I find Wolf to be a bit better, a bit bigger on the meat/spice flavor as far as these canned ones go. No beans of course when available, I don't mind beans in chili but when buying canned, you'll get like 80 percent beans and little meat, they really pad it out with the beans and it makes an overly starchy mouth drying experience.

Also, do recommend the Chunky Chili variations, they tend to include beans at a proper rate.

Ground beef 90%+
Onion
Orange and red bell peppers
One carrot, finely grated for extra sweetness
Garlic
Red pepper flakes
Scallion/green onion
Tomatoes fresh
Small can tomato paste
Vegetable stock
Cayenne to taste

Extra sharp cheddar on top then broil for 20 seconds

Add dollop of sour cream and green onion on top

Best I’ve made it.
Make the ground been as small as you can.

I'm making chili right now. Got both some chuck roll and some salt lamb in there. I cut the chuck roll of the bone but left the bone in the pot for flavour. It will be removed prior to eating.
