the one time I went to new york I had a high scale "authentic" pizza in Queens and it was depressing trash. Then I had NY pizza near ground zero made by mexicans and it was the shit. So honestly I don't give a fuck who makes it.

Queens is shit, and the pizza around ground zero is shit too (that's tourist tricks). Most pizza in NYC is not good, I'd say only 5% of them are still making it the right way and the rest are running purely on the fact that 2 million people walk by every day who will never walk by again. The ones who do actually make it good are expensive as fuck because that's where people who actually live in Manhattan go (and that requires $200k/year income minimum)
Honestly you will have an easier time getting the correct pie across the water in Jersey, that is where the Italians live now

My local pizza joint has been here for 40+ years, started as a front for one of the mafia families but they went legit when they started getting cracked down on. Good pizza, run by Italians. Their pasta sauce is a little bland but what can ya do.
