Its because most northeastern culture has been destroyed by urban development and the awful liberal white aspirational class that wants so badly to be seen as hip, urban and cool that they turn their back on their roots. I grew up in new england and so many people just want to move to nyc or boston and forget about where they are from. All the other cities in the NE are basically post-induatrial shitholes like Worcester and Springfield Mass. There are still salt of the earth hunters, fishermen and farmers in NE but they are a dying breed. As trashy as outsiders see it, in the south many people are still proud of their heritage and have a connection to the land. What makes Cajun food great isnt just the fusion of cultures and access to unique ingredients- theres plenty of portugues, italian, anglo and even french influence in the NE and some of the best seafood and game-its that the people in the south are proud of their heritage, refuse to compromise on it and insist that its the best. Most people in the NE are worker drones that only care about status.

It's easily and undoubtedly N'ALLINS. Northeast CLAM CHOWDAH is an honorable mention. Nevada has decent asian restaurants but any western food I tried there was complete shit. I ate breakfast at a truckstop buffet more often in NV.
