I tried a McRib for the first time and it wasn't even very good.
Why do Americans go crazy for them?
Is this the power of corporate brainwashing through limited-run products?

I haven’t had it myself but I got one for my mom recently and she said it didn’t taste the same as it used to so it’s possible they changed it up

Americans don't give a shit about the mcrib
You think they do because you believe the viral marketing

I genuinely don't understand why I ever order them, they're not all that good. But I do. And then I'm disappointed. I feel like I get a pass because my friend owns a few franchises so I get them essentially free, but they're still not great.

It sounds like you saw the Simpsons ribwich episode and thought it was real life.

It's a promotional thing for the people that fell for the hype ads and dont realize you can go into any walmart and grab the same sandwich for a buck.

It's probably the best money for advertising McDonalds and pork byproduct advertisers ever shelled out for.

this, although I had two for nostalgia purposes

It's really fucking easy. First you make a sandwhich that tries to appeal to people that like BBQ, but since you are basically a fast food production factory the only thing you can do is make a big cuboid sausage, fry it and add BBQ labeled sauce on top of it.

You know that it's not really what you offer, your clients know it too, so if you were to keep it for long in the menu it would become a forgotten item.

But aha, this is the genius part. You offer it only from time to time, just enough so people can become nostalgic and say "Shit, how shitty did that McRib tasted? I can't remember but somehow I want one now", then you just wait a little bit more so more people become nostalgic and then you send a batch to several different McDonalds(not all, just some) while announcing it as hard as you can.

Then you rake the benefits.

Here's my take. Is it the best rib sandwich? No. Is it acceptable and fast and economical? Yes. When.i want a rib sandwich and I want it now, I get it and I'm reasonably satisfied. If I have time on the weekend I do it right making my own.

As fast food rib sandwiches go there aren't many other options, and I refuse to eat a microwaveable ribwich.

I tried one a few years ago.
It was dry as fuck, didn't taste that good, there was nothing on it but unions and the meat was mediocre.

The first one is always good, but when you go back and get a second one it's always "meh, I'll wait till they bring it back next time".

They don't. God damn, the marketing works so well because you're all fucking morons with mush for brains. How can someone with an IQ above 70 believe people do that?
