I hate my fire alarm. It goes off when I reheat tea on the stove, or open my oven door

Wrong type of fire alarm for the location. Probably a cheapo diffraction/beam one that's getting tripped by the steam.

>> No.15442229

Maybe don't put it in the fucking kitchen man.

Yeah, it’s an older building. I moved in because it was the cheapest. I had to sign a waiver saying I’m aware the building used to have asbestos

I have a sensitive one in the hallway of my apartment, you can see it from the stove. It’s sensitive enough to pick up on microscopic oil droplets that have splashed on the stove coils (yes, coil shit tier stove feels bad man) but I can angle a fan on it so that it never goes off.

One time I pan seared like 6 ribeyes in a row for meal prepping and when I turned around I couldn’t see my front door 15 feet away from all the smoke. No alarm though.

I had a problem like that, and the newer kind is unusable after if detects smoke once. I got a NEST and it solved the problem.

Of course, if you aren't in a rental with a retarded hard wiring situation, just get the kind you can poke with a broomstick.

>> No.15443672

me making steak drunk at 3am in my small studio apartment and it's shrieking loud enough to wake up all the neighbors. Few days later drinking coffee and smokin a cigarette outside chattin it up with the hottie next door about what kind of dick is setting off the fire alarm at 3am

>> No.15443685

>>15443672
Literally me except I don't have a hot neighbour and don't give a fuck what any of them think about me setting off the alarm at 3am. It's so fucking sensitive.

I took all the fire alarms down from my apartment and hid them under the couch. They might as well be called "cry wolf alarms" because 99.9% of the time they're going off for pointless shit. When I hear them beeping in other apartments I don't even stir so what's the point of even having them?

Lower heat and a better oil then faggot

Smoke alarm. Carbon monoxide detector's hyperactive beep-beeping cousin.

>fire alarm 3 rooms from the kitchen goes off because a single wisp of steam escaped from a pot
>fire alarm next to the bathroom goes off when steam from the shower leaves the room
>actual fire happens
>silence

where the fuck do you live where smoke detectors are even in the fucking kitchen? ie: the most retarded place to have one?

they're usually placed near bedrooms because the whole purpose of them is to wake up people who are sleeping.

>> No.15444079

>>15444021
They don't activate from steam, moron.

I always take the one in the kitchen down and move it to another room before cooking steak

>> No.15444338

I practically have two in my kitchen, and ones right above the oven. I just have plastic wrap over them.
