Yeah going vegan has left me way healthier than before I was vegan, and it really sparked my love for cooking which is the reason I eat much, much nicer food on a daily basis than my Omni friends who easily pay double what I do for their food!

Veganism isn't vegetarianism out of necessity, as was the case in the past for the downtrodden. Take your culty ideologically motivated diet elsewhere, please. The the soft reinforcement of a renormalized vegetarian diet will only work to ensure red meat as the food of the rich and wealthy in the eyes of most people. The price hike-up will take care of that inevitably.

I meant to say "top position in naturally occurring and emergent hietarchies" = {"rich" , "powerful"}. Stuff that's further up in the food chain AND delicious is bound to be valued more. Especially combined with object's scarcity in your immediate landscape. Bear meat, for example, is a prized thing.

... And being able to literally throw food away is a sign of wealth and power. Sure, rather giving it to the needy is a historical example of furthering it, since, although throwing food away is idiotic and wasteful, it's also a way of highlighting the social contrast between the giver and the recipient. People tend to give other people things that are more valuable than a carrot, too.

Not that I’m going vegan, but I AM trying hard to learn how to eat leafy greens. A diet of meat, cheese, bread and some fruit can only go so far when trying to lose some pounds...

The problem is that I can’t stand that bitter fibery chlorophyll taste. Is there perhaps non leafy green alternatives to get those vaunted vitamins? Hate carrots too, but I do like onion and garlic

Im in Scotland. So Im use to grey and chilly haha. How suitable is Boston and New England for tourism? I imagine I would have to rent a car due to the size of America as everything is more spread out etc.

>> No.15440344

>>15440305
Oh nice. Yeah our winters are typically a bit harsher than yours, but this one has been super mild around here. Boston's a fun city to explore once everything's up and running. I grew up around here, so I don't know if it's my number one place in the US that I'd recommend, but it depends on what you're into. There's lots of restaurants, live venues, some pretty great museums, lots of parks.

Renting a car definitely opens up a lot more possibilities as public transport is pretty shit outside of the big cities and you can drive up and down the coast. A lot of non Americans don't realize how huge the country is, so definitely have reasonable expectations. You can't just rent a car and drive from Boston to LA to the Grand Canyon and back in a week lol. Everything is very spread out and most of it is kind of boring.

Honestly fall time, like October/early November is probably the best time to visit. It's nice and cool, the fall colors are absolutely amazing and it's just a really magical time of the year around here.

I really like it here, I wanted to eat a lobster roll and watch the sunset by a lighthouse the other day and just did it. That's fucking rad imo.

Where would you personally reccomend in the US to visit? In terms of areas. Of course you cant just go from NY to visit California for the day, So which other specific areas would you reccomend?

>> No.15440381

I fucking love Colorado. Lived there for a while and Denver's a cool city and very close to beautiful scenery, hikes, mountains and has skiing a big chunk of the year. It can be fall down in Denver and you drive through a tunnel and end up in a winter wonderland, it really is magical. Summers get pretty hot, but it's dry and a lot more tolerable, but again autumn and winter are great times to visit.

Hawaii's also literally heaven on earth, but it's pretty expensive and very touristy in a lot of parts.

Thank you for your reccomendations.
I will bear them in mind.

to reciprocate, idk If you are interested in Scotland but If you do visit I reccomend Highand Perthshire and the surroundings for tourists.

Plus of course Edinburgh and Glasgow for city things, Just avoid touristy shite and “tartan tat” places (think like just shitty “Scottish” themed things devoid of cultural authenticity).

Hell yeah. I love comedy and music and have wanted to visit the Edinburgh festival for a while now, I really gotta make it out there hopefully later this year if we manage to get our shit together and travel safely.

Also I swear there's a tartan tat place on 16th street in Denver lol. It always looked fucking dumb in passing. What foods other than the stereotypical haggis do you recommend?

Also off topic question, are you a fan of Limmy/Limmy's Show at all?

That's fine, I'm not mad at you at all. Do what you want. I'm talking to people who buy it in the supermarket.
I have no problem with meat and greatly enjoy it myself. I'm just realistic about its future. Also, I have better things to do with my life than hunt all day. I'm not an animal.

I wouldnt bet on it, Lockdown is still in force here and we have been warned things realistically wont be back to normal until 2022.

In terms of foods, We of course have the traditional dishes, But something that is also key here is getting stuff made with local produce or made locally. For example Loads of places have their own cheese recepies here or their own type of local alcohol etc. Rural farmers markets being key to that. But also there is a real effort to Cook with local produce in restaraunts and so on. So no matter where you go theres always an effort to make things with what we have.

In term of key dishes, Cullen Skink, Scotch Broth, Stovies, Tattie scones, get a fish and chips, Cranachan is solid, try scottish tablet, tattie scones, try the pies, Bridies, Shortbread, black pudding oh and try and get Tunnocks tea cakes at some point (pic telated) they are fab. Oh and Whisky of course ;)

Oh and fried mars bars are a joke food, its not a serious common thing here. But for the fun of it do get a munchy box at a takeaway.

And yeah Limmys show is great haha

I think the future of meat is plentiful, nutritoua, high quality, affordable meat that everyone, including low-income, people of color, and immigrants, can feed to their family. Food is a human right, and you do not get to dictate to other people what their diet should be
