It depends what you didn't like about them. I find they're sometimes good, but the oil often has an off taste to it. Water packed ones just tastes like the fish, and the water itself becomes infused with tasty fish flavour. Sometimes a bit salty, sometimes not so much. The sardines themselves are good plain, but can also be a good match for any sauce you choose.
