Most people are retard-tier anything.
Once you get into any skill or hobby above a casual level, you realize that the majority of people are casuals and idiots.

rinsing cheep fatty beef isn't a terrible idea actually, depending what you're using it for.

i drain and rinse my instant ramen and then replace the oily starchwater with fresh crystal clear water from the kettle. much much better

When I moved to the midwest, and every last person who tried what I made told me it was god-tier, regardless of what it was. Not to say I can't cook, but basic teriyaki chicken with white is not "god-tier". Still, the praise is flattering I guess.

If these people can say when food is "good", they should be able to replicate it by searching up a recipe and following it. Cooking isn't hard, you don't need to make up dishes yourself. Follow, a recipe. Not the recipe on a box of boil or instant.

I don't have a problem eating box food like stuffing or soup. But mashed potatoes? Let's be fucking serious here, it only takes a few seconds to mash and you can bake or boil the fucking potato. Eggs? A minute to fry. Salmon? SALMON DOESN'T EVEN COOK FOR THAT LONG.

Spices and seasonings literally right in from of you. Some of them already mixed. (for quick dishes nothing wrong with premixed seasoning, some are actually really good.) if you have NO idea what season tastes like, sit there and TASTE IT. Boil rice in a POT with salt.

I can understand some people feel daunted at making their own cream sauce for pasta, however with modern technology in their fingertips and millions of YouTube videos explaining in Army language how to make them, you no longer have an excuse.

Most people who can't cook, don't want to. They are lazy. Especially women. Women now expect men to cook and/or pay for the meal to woo her. Sad men always fall for it.

Fourier series are only touched on unless they are explicitly needed, and really I think most math on that level comes into play in graduate school. For the most part senior classes are still babbies first physics class. The difference between digital and analog electronics is of no concern to me as of yet, I’ve had an electronics laboratory class but my electromagnetism class is more on the fundamentals and concepts rather than applications. Hope this helps.
I will say that the better you understand the math the better off you will be the longer you continue down this path. Don’t get too caught up in it though, some things are better left to computers.

Just a quirk of language. English is a mix of German and French, and gras is French while Fett is German. Generally (at least in America, but I don't see why Britain would be any different) the French vocabulary is used for food while the German vocabulary is used for the animal/non-food purposed.

Same thing for a lot of things, swine is German, pork is French, cow is German, beef is French.

It's not that it necessarily has heaps of water, the pan is just too crowded for the water to cook off faster than it's released from the meat. It's very common for people to not technically be browning (frying) their mince and instead simmering it.
At least it is in Aus, maybe American beef is particularly watery.

Yeah, that sounds about right. The other day I made some taco meat with venison and mixed it with some sour cream and spanish rice, and someone said "easily the best thing I've ever eaten". Which is immensely flattering mind you, and I like cooking for people who apparently fall head over heels what I can make them, but after a certain point you feel "it is impossible to improve out here, I can never receive any constructive criticism, I could make anything in the world here and it would past muster". Most people here are arguing over the most retarded shit ever. You can't pretend that almost all comments in any thread are complete garbage. That's how I know almost nobody on this board can cook. There was a thread about degreasing pizza for fucks sake. How can a competent cook ever find himself in an argument over that? Look at any thread active right now. Almost no threads should even contain a discussion in replies. Others should literally contain "[simple answer], /thread". There is significant amount of effort required to find a reasonable thread and to find a reasonable reply there. It wouldn't be as hard if at least half of posters on this board had cooking skills required to turn on the microwave, but they don't. That's why this board is shit. Almost nobody here can cook and everyone pretends they do. It's a huge LARPing community where the few people who actually cook can't even find a reason to reply.

Get a bowl and put about a centimeter (or an inch, doesn't matter) of warm water in it then pour the excess grease into the bowl, let it cool on the counter for 30 minutes, and then put the whole thing in the fridge. About 2-4 hours later it will solidify into a puck of beef fat that you can then use to cook with later in place of vegetable oil, assuming you cooked your beef plain anyways. Throw out the water in the bowl though, you don't use that for anything.
