When did Americans forget how to cook? I've been watching Townsends, they show us so many good recipes, I can't believe that all these good home cooking recipes were just forgotten by Americans. Feminism has a lot to answer for when it comes to obesity, as the stay-at-home mother ensured that at least one square meal was provided for once a day. Now with two parents working fast food is a norm and eating restaurant food. It's very expensive too.

The advertising business in general. If fast food was judged on it's own merits it's not that good. The idea of the food is greater than the actual reality of it. Sadly, some people's bar on tasty food is so low that fast food is actually top-tier food for them.

Because things like efficiency became more important. We had better access to quick and easy tools/chemicals/compounds to make things taste better and more flavorful, and didn't have to use as many ingredients.

The reason food is "shit tasting" nowadays is because people buy a bunch of fucking processed, loaded-to-the-brim with preservative garbage, then act surprised when it tastes like chemicals. you're still entirely capable of going out and making scotch collops if you want, or making basic unleavened bread, but it doesn't taste like anything, it's not good food, it's survival food. Most people would rather have good tasting shit they don't have to work to make, so they'll buy the frozen thing that's loaded with flavor, chemical or otherwise.

People do still know how to cook, you just inform yourself solely from a mongolian geothermal cookery board which is filled with memes and shit.

It's not the dishes fault that it tastes shit-tier, it's the person making it. A dish is only as good as the ability of the person making it.

As for processed shit being tasty. It has uniformity and a shelf life. If you go into the supermarket with an eagle eye though, the markups on the ingredients used in that type of food is incredible. The difference is time, ignorance and laziness.

You're much more likely to cook for yourself if there is a culture of appreciating cooking within your family or friend group.

The person making the dish still needs to collect the right ingredients. Having the foresight to have those ingredients on standby to spice up an otherwise bland dish is the key.

The wogs do this all the time. Substitute quality in a dish for some spices to make it palpable. Eating rice gets old fairly quickly otherwise.

Personally I think the main issue is a love (some may say enslavement) to money/profit. If you start off making good money off of honest cooking, you'll always be tempted by the world to ride that fame and manipulate it for profit. Isolation could be one solution but i dunno, maybe it doesnt need to go that far.
