Did you guys ever order something that was just way too spicy for you to handle?
Few days ago I went to a Vietnamese place, some hole-in-the-wall kind of place that one of my coworkers recommended me. I go there, start reading the menu up behind the counter and I notice that they call their sandwiches "Vietnamese sandwiches".
So I tell the lady at the counter I want "a pork banh mi" and immediately see her face light up, I must have been the first customer cultured enough to know the proper name. After a solid 5 seconds of looking in awe she snaps back to reality, and asks me if I want it spicy. I replied "make it Vietnamese spicy", and I swear I saw her blush. She nervously picked what seemed to be a reasonable amount of sliced bird's eye chilies and scattered them inside my sandwich. As I leave the stand with my food I get this feeling that she would have let me get behind the counter and fuck her senseless if I had made the move.
But that's neither here nor there, point is, that sandwich was way, waaaaay too spicy. I haven't gone to the toilet in 3 days but I can already tell this one is going to be painful as fuck.
So, what's the spiciest stuff you've ever ordered?

Nothing is ever spicy enough. I swear I live in the WASP center of the universe and it even radiates to the ethnic people who live here. Literally nothing is spicy. Not even joking. You'd notice it too.

Once had Thai chili that had so many Thai bird chili’s in it, I legit thought they were green beans because it’s was just Thai chilis and a little bit of some kind of meat. Temperature wise it was borderline inedible, close to boiling. The spice/temperature made it really difficult to eat, couldnt eat without being in pain for an hour afterwards. Pretty good, id try it again

In the homeplace of buffalo wings, Buffalo NY, there are two top competitors. Anchor Bar, the original, and Duff's the contender. I preferred Duff's regular buffalo style wings, they were warm and super tender. The website said hot was super hot.

So I tried the suicide wings. It took me a week to finish 10 wings because a single one would leave me dripping sweat. Complete with bleu cheese and beer. It's the first time I encountered a wing too hot for me to enjoy. I mean, I loved it. But it was work to get through those wings.

I dated a Vietnamese girl a couple years ago and she took me to a Thai restaurant that was a "hole on the wall" kind of place. Each table has 2 types of chili containers. One is a sauce and the other is like this dried and tasted ground thai chili. I love the dried chili but I pay for it the next day.

Side note, Viet girls are awesome :)

This is a real problem, I went to buffalo wild wings and asked for an order of blazing (their hottest) and also some other flavor.
The blazing came as if I had ordered them dry, as in no sauce on em just a light coloring, while the parm garlic was soaked in sauce. In past years they've given me the blazing with lots of sauce, I didn't say anything but it was very dissapointing desu

Op got around that, ethics know when white people ask for spicy they don't actually mean it. Asking her for Vietnamese spicy was be move. They insult their shitty culture by underpowering your food.

I live in Washington, north of Seattle. Down south a few areas are so tech heavy it influences that immigrant population to the point where that's all you see. Near Amazon it's tons of Asians, near Microsoft it's nothing but Indians. Condos near Microsoft look like a Bollywood movie.

I used to be able to eat anything spicy, I drink constantly and used to smoke. I'd order as 5 and tell the girl if it's not spicy enough I'm sending it back and demanding a refund. I got blown out a couple times doing that but never so I couldn't finish it.

I went to this thai place right near the Microsoft campus, everyone else in this, quite fancy, place was Indian with Microsoft money. Wasn't really in the mood for spicy so I ordered a 3/5 star.

I shit you not, liquid fire. I couldn't finish. My gums were throbbing, I swear the fumes hurt your eyes. Next to me a of guys are eating dinner, he orders a 5, I check to see his reaction when his food comes. Would had thought he was eating oats.

>> No.15217681

>>15217501
The lack of consistency with places that is the result of people like that is maddening. I don't want to do some dumb dance of having someone trying to interpret how spicy I may want something and also having to make adjustments in my order to accomodate that. If the restaurant has a scale, stick with it. Don't start making adjustments based on an assumption, because finally dialing in a good heat level only to have it be underwhelming the next visit because someone decided you couldn't handle it is frustrating.

my best friend is a Mexican from Oaxaca, and he tried to open a true Mexican restaurant in England; the issue wasn’t whether he could cook authentic food, especially deep rich moles, but that inevitably he had to start dropping ingredients because the limp wristed Brits kept giving him bad reviews for the spice level, not realizing the level of heat in most of the sauces was already dumbed down for them; his table salsa ended up being tomatoes and bell peppers with lime juice/salt because onions, garlic, and jalapeños were too much for their palates; now he works at Mestizo in London trying to find another opportunity to open a place

great little thai place near me has mild, medium, hot, and fire levels of spice
when you ask for fire they have 20 levels of fire you can request
fire 1, fire 2, etc. all the way up to fire 20
we had been getting fire 2 and 3 without much issue and the lady knew us by now as chiliheads so it was cool
well one weekend my brother and I thought we were badass since we liked spicy stuff and ordered some takeout curry dishes that at fire 20, the lady warned us that its very very hot but we said yeah thats fine we know
she said again, its VERY spicy but we insisted
brought them home, smelled amazing but looked like something satan shit out
we got about halfway through and realized it was a mistake
had to take the next couple days off from work because of the pain and asshole feeling like I ate and shit out a ball of tangled rusty fishhooks
next time we got takeout there and ordered medium same lady didnt have to say anything or ask how it went, she knew
