i was kinda joking about the smoking, its a bit wonky to do without the proper equipment, but if you're still interested
you'll want to make sure your oven is capable of it, depending on it's design and where the air vents are you could end up with a serious problem on your hands and have some proper types of wood for it, though you don't need much you'll also want a pan you're not particularly attached to incase of damage
those tiny cast irons work pretty well for it but needs some babysitting to keep it smouldering
my ovens vent is under a burner but its common for vents to be on the doors which could be troublesome by letting smoke out instead of keeping it inside
if you have a gas oven now it might also be even sketchier
also need a bit of time for your sticks to dry out, and need to know what woods are safe to smoke with in your area

i've got some unlabelled undated meats of questionable age but no matter what we make i'd have to buy stuff for it im sure

I don't actually know where my oven vents out of, it's a fan oven and there are holes that look like potential vents everywhere. rubber seal is also old so smoke might not trap too well. how do you do your smoking?

i did smoked carrot knots on /ck/ like last year i think, i still have the second bag of carrots from it.
basically took a whole bunch of onion skins and maple twigs in a pan, lit it up and stuck it in the bottom of my oven with everything else in the racks above it and i show where my smoke stack is under the burner

i dont really want to make smoked carrots again though, they were good but there was so just much carrot between the knots skins and pasta
