Had a colleague mention in passing, "never drink a beer you can see through". When I pressed for details, he said something about it being healthier or something.

Is this true?

I'm not saying beer is healthy. So you can fuck right off if you're going to type that.

Do darker beers have more antioxidants or something or is this nonsense?

What? Does he actually hold a doctorate? Is he at least a PhD student? ABD maybe? Or is "PhD type" some bizarre mental image that you got from watching the mincing homosexual clowns on "the Big Bang Theory?"

Hazier beers are brewed with different yeast strains under different conditions, is all.
The resulting brew is no more or less healthy for you, it just looks and tastes different.

Unfiltered beers ARE indeed healthier for you and rich in B vitamins that would otherwise be filtered out with clear beer. The bits of hoppy substance has good stuff in it. I recommend Walt Wit

Never drinking clear beer is a bit much though. Just drink whatever beer you like

This. The yeast has lots of vitamin b. Otherwise they also filter out some proteins, but still it's an alcoholic beverage so who cares for that? Taste difference of filtered and uncleared beers isn't even notable. If you do blind studies with plenty beers most people wouldn't get them right.
Most fresh beers i had weren't even good. Especially not lagers.

>> No.15162378

your friend is a homo who was yet to see the truth of the beer hierarchy, which is that hazy beer is actually dogshit and the true king of beers is a crystal clear, properly made pilsner or lager, with dark beer in a solid second position

Sounds like he got meme advice from someone older than him and he thought it was smart for some reason. I don’t know a single person in the real world who gives a shit. If you’re worried about healthiness, don’t drink a beer.

dark beer tends to be stronger, but less carbonated, i find it easier to drink a lot of darker beer than lighter, bubblier stuff, end up with more alcohol in my system, and feel worse than if i was doing lighter styles

unfiltered (hazy) beer has more vitamins and micronutrients, but it's not that big of a difference, you're still drinking fermented grain soup in the end
dark beers aren't more healthy, they're just made from roasted malt instead of unroasted

If you're drinking beer you should never consider healthiness in your choice. That said, the only claim to not liking "clear" beers is that there's not as much flavor to them and that darker beers are much more than the regular coors pisswater.

>"never drink a beer you can see through". When I pressed for details, he said something about it being healthier or something.
Your friend is probably talking about unfiltered beers like Hazy/New England IPAs, which become filtered and clear through the use of fining agents like fish bladders or other means. All it does is remove compounds from the beer that make it seem foggy in appearance rather then clear and it has no impact on beer's nutrition.
If he's referring to darker malt use in beers then he's also wrong as those beers generally use more grain and yeast to make fuller beers and thus contain more sugars and calories.

Either way your friend is a retard and should stick to his own field of work.

Once you get life experience, you will realize that those "PhD" types are the biggest dipshits of all. They dedicate their entire lives and viewpoints into following words of other men, all they do is follow directions. An original idea or thought rarely comes from these dipshits, they are too busy huffing farts and telling people they are a 'doctor'

All they simply did is follow rules for a longer period of time than most college students.
