So it was only a few months after the election and he was doing a series at Mt Vernon so the recipes were likely their idea, as he was visiting a historical larp place. In fact, he was doing this episode with a woman, which everyone forgets, and women are much more liberal than men in general, so she probably picked it as a subtle jab at Trump.

That said, everyone noticed and he backpedaled. He's probably extremely conservative and hates gays and thinks we are "living in sin" or some backwards shit and at the very least doesn't support non discrimination laws.

So long story short, he's a far-right bigot and realizes he is going to get cancelled if he ever shares his political views so he got cagey with the orange fool situation, but most people are retards and somehow assume despite his trad-larping he's somehow a liberal.
