How does /ck/ feel about novelty cookbooks? Recently I really got into cooking and turns out Im really good at it.

Thing is alot of stuff on reading bores me the only thing that makes it fun are video game cookbooks and stuff like that with a theme currently have like 10 of them which are extremely fun.

Outdated probably but its fun.

Eh. I prefer cooking recipes to be put into video games themselves, but I don't begrudge the effort to use pop-culture to sell cooking to the masses. I've got a few but they've always been downloads of opportunity while downloading other shit.

I got the Skyrim cookbook and felt robbed. All these fucking meme cookbooks are broken jigsaw puzzles of ill-fitting recipes jammed together cause they sound like the dish from the game or movie or whatever. Maybe they put a slight twist on it after a bong hit in their ‘test kitchen’, rename it something quirky. These are coffee table or bathroom books at most man I know how to make a blueberry crostata I don’t need it to look like the one in the game lol....

Pic related I didn’t make that shit but fuck man

desu the only game that seems to have food worth noticing is FF15's high quality food renders and Monster Hunter's feasts.

Outside of them, I don't think there's much noticeable about food in games. I think the only game that made me want to cook something was Kingdom Come Deliverance, and that was more because I like historical recipes rather than anything worth noting in the game.

Like all products, they're usually made to create a profit. That means taking advantage of peoples' nerdom. However, cooking is all about imagination. Good recipes that seem appropriate I approve of. Simple recipes that use modern ingredients and equipment that have just been renamed after a game is just a joke.

The few I've looked at have turned out to be really disappointing, like it's just duplicates of easily made real world items with fantasy names, nothing new or creative.

I would recommend historical cookbooks like The Forme of Cury or Apicus/De Re Coquinaria for simulated medieval/fantasy cooking as many of the recipes are unique and call for spice combinations that are very different from what the norm of today is, almost everything I have made out of them has at least been interesting.

on the show when the zombies are feeding it's actually bbq meat so the actors can really eat during the scenes
I would hope there's recipes for that in the book

The sweetroll recipe in that cookbook pisses me off. They could've just gave a pound cake recipe but no, they give you a recipe for some sweetened bread.

If you check the archive there have been a great number of video game and fantasy recipe books posted in their entirety. I'd highly recommend the LOTR cookbook if you're interested.

well cucumbers are nice, but for something with virtually no food value nutritionally I can't imagine they are worth the space and water to grow them when you're trying to survive an apocalypse

Actually made this chili once and it ended up being pretty fucking good. I omitted some of the peppers so it would be edible and added in a few more kidney beans. Would reccomend.

I own the fallout cookbook, it has some legit good stuff. The iguana on a stick is a solid recipe but it needs salt added to its recipe. The chili is also solid.

I HATE women "gamers" so much because you know they are just doing it for attention and money. Women do NOT care about gaming (or anything of substance) in the same way as men. Women are programmed to care primarily about child rearing and making babies and that's it.

Also women suck at WoW.

>> No.15126067

I've got the WoW cookbook and it's rad. Lots of creative recipes that definitely have life from the game. Usually video game cookbooks have cool exclusive art in them too.
