horseradish is nice on a roastbeef sandwich, my problem is i only want to use like a tablespoon max at a time but you have to buy the whole jar at the grocery store, sure it was a long shelf life but it's always too much

I ate a whole bottle once and it took me months to find a donor for a new sphincter. Doctors said it was because I was an uncommon size and they were running low since it was pride month. Never again.

I love horseradish, and I love capsaicin-based spicy foods. Horseradish is a welcome escape, it's painfully spicy but goes away quick.

I was having a bad cold with super stuffed up sinuses that wouldn't allow me to breathe through my nose. I was waking up with severe dry mouth and throat every morning. So in desperation I ate a heaping tablespoon of horseradish. It opened my sinuses enough to allow me to blow my nose for the first time in days.

Grated horseradish root is a godtier garnish for any heavy meaty or creamy dish.

don't like it? it's good stuff. it's wasabi for white people.

oh i see now

I swear getting spicy horseradish in Canada is impossible. I don't know how many brands I've bought that said "spicy" and then were totally bland.

>> No.15068196

you people are obviously generic assholes. If you want "seafood sauce" ketchup, 10% vinegar and horseradish. Deli mustard is ground mustard seeds, powdered mustard, vinegar and horse radish.

I like it with steak. Just put a tablespoon sized blob on the plate and dip your steak in it. Really nice.

Good horseradish sauce is god-tier, especially on beef, and incredibly strong so go easy with it. The strong chemical in it is very volatile; you should only get in small quantities so that it doesn't lose too much of its goodness.

Also, fuck Polish horseradish. It's for for total pansies. No wonder the Russians and Germans waltzed back and forth across Poland; their horseradish is all shit-tier bland stuff. It's so terrible it might be OK for OP's cuck-tier tastes.

I simmered a 3.5lb flat-cut brisket a couple of weeks ago for ~4 hours in water and some pickling spice, then pulled it and then cooked carrots, potatoes, a turnip, and a small head of cabbage. Thin-sliced the meat across the grain, and I ate corned beef and cabbage with MOUNDS of horseradish for two days, and finished it out with a couple of Reuben sandwiches.

Best food I've had in a while.

Is there any other way of getting the wasabi flavor without wasabi? The same type of flavor in horseradish is too mild.

my only tip is to try and prepare it fresh yourself if you can. as others have said, the pungency really deteriorates over time
