To an American.
To the rest of the world, it means something completely different.
If it doesn't have lettuce/cucumber/peppers/onion etc... it's not a fucking salad.

>> No.15060685

I don't, mayo-based salads are atrocious.

put eggs 3 times in egg-slicer to get fine dice. add a bit yellow mustard, add remoulade instead of Mayo, add chives and spring ononions, salt and pepper. tastes great with fresh baked bread, or just toast...

I remember I hated egg salad for years because my parents always made it with relish. I remember I made egg salad for them once and they were upset there was no relish in it.

>> No.15064273

you're basically seasoning the egg with more egg and then call it a fucking salad

That's just not true... Everywhere in Europe you have salads that doesn't contains any of these ingredients.
I'm all for blaming Americans at every occasion but on this one this is just dishonest.

In general you are correct.
But i feel that an europeans first mental image of salad is probably something green and leafy.
For americans i suspect the poster with the mayonaise theory is pretty much spot on.

I tear up some lettuce, I cut up tomatoes, cucumbers, and radishes. He doesn't have any arms so I add the dressing and toss it to coat.
Little guy never eats it though, I always end up tossing almost all of it.

This is salad 'Olivier'. It was invented by a French chef who copied a french salad called 'Macedoine'. This is much more than just an egg salad.
