My meat dealer gifted me the black one for being a repeat customer. Its alright. Tried it with a friend and we both agreed its overpriced chipotle sauce with a bit more umami
Overrated for 17 dollars a bottle, basically compels you to penny pinch and drip it out conservatively on whatever you're eating because of the price, even though it was a gift. I hate this curse brought on by benevolence

i like it. best use i've found so far was

>peel whole head of garlic
>put in small saucepan with just enough olive oil to float the cloves
>bring to a bare simmer and simmer 20 mins until browned and soft
>mash cloves with a couple tablespoons of the oil
>mix this mashed garlic mixture with truff in a new saucepan, simmer and adjust for salt and pepper
>toss wings in the sauce

i added a little frank's too just for that traditional vinegar flavor but i was calling them black truffle garlic confit buffalo wings and they were v good

It’s very unique. I had a bottle a few and it was kind of tough to find things to use it on because the truffle taste is so strong. If you like truffles you’ll like it. If you don’t, you won’t. I’m indifferent towards truffles so I didn’t end up using much because I didn’t want my whole meal to taste like truffle.

You can get higher quality stuff. There's this great business in Arizona that sells the absolute most delicious olive oils. I found them when I was out on a road trip with a good friend of mine. Amazing little spot too, the whole pace is filled with tables wall to wall with flavored olive oil on plates and fresh bread to sample it with. This place is the real deal.
You should check them out for yourself.
