Unironically Swedes.

Scandinavia is a harsh landscape with limited options regarding produce, meat, and spices. Their heritage cuisine is simplistic and bland. That's why they cuck for "Le Epic Foreign Food" shit like Ethiopian/ Turkish/ etc.

A couple nice jams, some fish, some meatballs, and a few cured meats simply don't cover enough, to the point that trendy restaurants wind up doing ape-crazy shit like tree buds, lichen, and seaweed to get different textures and flavors.

100 times this.

I moved to Sweden 3 years ago, and the cuisine is largely forgettable.

Yes, meatballs, kålpudding, gravad lax, some game meats, julmust and a few deserts are nice.

But it's instantly forgettable when you have any other cultures cuisine.

I'd put Norway, Iceland and Finland up there as well.

Also restaurant and pub culture in Sweden is laughable. The only decent places are foreign, and I have never been to a decent Swedish place that wasn't fancy and pretentious serving pickled pine cones. Bars are also such a joke with their puritanical approach to alcohol.

Also, protip, NEVER tip in Sweden, ever. Not even once.

I don't really know about any of this shit. Seems so broad... I feel like every cusine is just going to adapt to what they have available, then you have hundreds and thousands of people over many years developing the kind of meals they want to eat, so what you get is
>People in countries with more spices and shit available create food that's just good
>People in countries with less available to them for food specialize in certain types of food and get creative

So the countries with harsh environments probably have a good basis for specific things and are probably a lot better when you actually head over there yourself vs eat it somewhere else.
But the rich or fertile countries have more to work with, so they might not be specialized, but they will have some good shit in there.

Basically, you just mood to look hard enough to find what they do good with.

Chicken, chili sauce, cream (whatever that even means specifically), and bacon all sound fine together. Peanuts are fine with chicken, cream, chili sauce or bacon and I don't see a *specific* reason they can't be combined besides maybe it could become a confused dish... But I'm not good at simulating all that in my head. I feel like they could all go together, or it could be fucked. Possibly partly also depends on if the peanuts are whole and what the rest of the dish is like.

But I think it's the banana that is making this a meme for you. People think it seems weird to put banana on savoury dishes for some fuck all reason. Practically the only things people seem comfortable doing with bananas are desserts and eating them straight. I don't think people actually would hate doing other things with bananas if they have it a shot, but they don't because they subconsciously think recipes in loving banana are the meals of a Melvin child when in reality, there is actually no reason it can't go with chicken or cream or chili or bacon.
At least not individually. All together, I have no idea, but I'm starting to think maybe it's not such a bad idea.

Russia literally doesn't have a cuisine, so that one wins by default.

At least the Bongs have a food culture even if it does involve eating foreign garbage, but Russians as a whole legitimately do not give a flying fuck about food and have never developed a cuisine as a result. There is no such thing as Russian food. It's very unique in that aspect.

On my one and only visit to Russia I mostly ate in cheap and basic country restaurants. Honestly most bland and worst quality food I've ever eaten, even though it was mostly edible. I genuinely think that prisons in Finland have much better food than what I ate there. Tbh our prisons are also probably nicer places to live than many of the small villages we drove thorugh. So I'm going with Russia. I'm sure you can get good food in Russia, but I was really surprised at the low quality of even basic ingradients in restaurans in the more remote areas.

Idk. Our food is not really bad, mostly just kinda bland if you want to mock it. Not really sure what people think of as finnish food anyway. Some boring potato and pork mush I guess. Gravlax, karelia pies, reindeer roast, open fire cooked salmon, spinach pancakes, new season potatoes with freshly caught fish, lobsters & vodka etc are imo all food that few would consider bad or disgusting. Bigger question is imo why is brittish cuisine so highly rated.

Although I guess if the question was really "how popular is x" it makes sense, nobody knows what Finnish cuisine even contains.

America. Here's why:

>remove spices from origin country's dish because muh puritanism
>later, crank the fat and sugar and salt way up because muh convenience (it's easy to make things taste good this way and Americans don't demand anything more)
>tastes nothing like the original dish
>no subtleties
>pretend it's better than the home country's dish because you've 1. never tried it and 2. have the palate of a 5 year old

Let's take a look at some examples, and then name the worst offender:
Authentic tacos
>small home made tortillas
>meat stewed in spices
>fresh vegetables
>plenty of garnish; cilantro, lime, salsa

American tacos
>weird U-shaped crunchy shell that disintegrates when you bite it
>MSG and coriander added to ground beef, or worse: 10% soy protein "meat mix" in a bag
>little bit of lettuce
>sour cream (why?)
>pre-shredded cheddar cheese with sawdust in it
>mild salsa (sweet as a dragon's cunny)

The hilarious thing is the original dish isn't even time consuming or difficult to make, but Americans put convenience first.

Authentic pizza
>thin crust made with tipo 00 flour, baked to perfection with complexity and appropriate doughy-ness
>high quality ingredients placed sparingly so you can taste the delicious crust along with them
>baked at high temperatures to induce delicious reactions with the toppings
>garnished freshly after cooking if necessary

American pizza
>thick, sweet crust made with robin hood flour with cornmeal on the bottom
>packed full of nauseating ingredients, sometimes even chicken or BBQ sauce
>baked at lower temperatures than most ovens max out at
>slathered with soybean oil every step of the way

This one's funny as fuck. It's actually more effort and time to make the American version, but they don't have to work to taste the complexities in the dish, so they love it, I guess.

Worst offender: """""""Chinese food"""""""" (biggest misnomer ever)
American style:
>little to no spices
>caramelized sugar on half the dishes
>boring, flavorless cuts of meat
>bland but salty
>only a few select dishes exist, such as "chop suey" and "sweet and sour chicken balls"
>makes you bloated as fuck

Chinese style:

Just kidding. This means absolutely fucking NOTHING. There are SO many cuisines around China that it's literally hilarious to try grouping them all together like this. Let's look at some delicious flavor profiles from around China, though.

Cantonese:
>emphasis on delicious dishes to be shared
>lots of cultural influence that's applied in a very clever manner (for example, making "curry" with ingredients such as tea, dried tangerine peel, and regional spices; baked rice dishes are way better than their Portuguese counterparts)
>convenient to a degree due to the business atmosphere of most Cantonese areas, but complex and delicious

Shanghainese:
>strong presentation (most things are vibrant red due to the type of pickling or glaze they use)
>creative ways to eat food (xiao long bao [soup dumplings], cold spicy noodles)
>encouraged to use nice array of condiments so dishes aren't homogenized

Hunan:
>fragrant; spicy, but light
>medium use of spice and alliums
>simple dishes prepared thoughtfully with minimal ingredients; "more than the sum of its parts"

Sichuan:
>robust, intense as fuck flavors
>exciting to eat as your mouth goes numb from mala
>anything can be delicious if you're a master at making attention-grabbing broths and sauces

People think Nordic cuisine is bad because everyone is ignorant and knows very little about it. Even most nordics themselves know very little about actual Nordic cuisine, this is because feminism has been so strong here, which resulted in women not learning to be homemakers and not passing on the traditional food. This and our wealth resulted in our food culture become increasingly imported international ingredients and dishes. This has resulted in a weaker food culture.

Check out the work of Andreas Viestad and you will get a better understanding of what nordic cuisine can be.

Still not quite as authentic as they could be, but it really depends where you are. If there's a high Asian population? Yeah. Anywhere else: fuck no.

I live in a part of Canada where I'm able to get top tier food from all across Asia without even getting in my car. It's not even slightly Westernized, and I love it. I've noticed a lot of the outlier restaurants are a bid more Western--things like gentrified pho or ramen, or dim sum restaurants that only have a small menu that whites would readily eat. If you go to any of the small towns in the region, ALL their restaurants are completely Westernized.

Americans don't even have a single original dish, they steal dishes from elsewhere and ruin it by making it greasier, sweeter and removing flavors and ingredients
Everyone knows the saying: "As American as apple pie", right? WRONG. Apple pie is a Dutch/ British dish, americans stole it and claimed it as their own. Some americans even believe pizza is a native dish. Yes, they're that dumb and they are on the same website as we are right now. If you talk about standard homecooking, I would have to cast my vote for either: Estonia, Finland or Guinea Bissau.

Estonia and Finland have similar traits but Estonia inherits some of the horrors of the eastern block as well.

Guinea bissau: would you like some pasta with your rice? Oh, here you go. Hmm, what's that? You'd like some potato with that too? A true gourmét! Maybe some yams and or tapioca too?

maple butter says you're wrong. And poutine is good, but it got the bacon/sriracha treatment where for the past 10 years every single food media organization has been screaming on the rooftops that it's the second coming of Christ when in reality it's just decent sloppa for drunks or kids getting off the rink. So understandably everyone is experiencing a bit of poutine fatigue

I'm criticising syrup, not Maple syrup. Maple syrup is delicious compared to regular syrup, but fuck syrup.

I just think poutine is a horrible mashup. Dipping fries in gravy? Cool. Making soggy fries by drowning them in gravy and losing the crispiness? Uncool as fuck. Cheese on gravy? Fucking disgusting.

Nothing about it works. I've had it several times and given it many chances, but it's just awful IMO, and the hype doesn't help. Normies worship the stuff.

t. smooth brain

Most countries on the list did that. Also, this list seems flawed; "Chinese food" doesn't fucking exist, and there's no way Americans would have tasted enough Shanghainese, Hunan, Sichuan, Cantonese etc. dishes to be able to have an opinion on any of those regional cuisines.

It probably means American "Chinese" "food." Fucking cringe. Same goes for Japan and Italian food, probably--though at least Japanese people are well traveled, compared to Americans who can't be bothered to leave their country and have to look at people who are different colors than them. God forbid.

I'm not easily upset by food, but my negative chart is:

Ceviche. Peruvian but tried it the US, it's basically kitchen sink scraps collected from the drain and called a salad.

Thukpa. Tibetian soup from authentic tibet street vendor, was made with thick buckwheat flour and not much else. I like buckwheat but this tasted like sorrow.

USA/Canada store food in general. Food should not be THAT processed, it's just tastes like death. To an extent valid for all cheap food served in north america, you can taste the industry.

Portugese food - very bland, raw and underseasoned, surprisingly so.

Crossing over into decent area is Dutch food, which is tasty but has narrow spectrum of fish and potato. Only gets better from there with German, French, Russian, Polish, Asian, Italian, etc.

I've had chinese food from the mainland, prepared by actual chinese mainlanders, and its overrated as fuck. The flavor profile is overwhelmingly dominated by dumping fucktons of hot chili oil onto everything until your mouth goes numb and you can't taste anything at all anymore. The flavors and spices are also almost 100% stored inside the oil itself, when you've finished eating and you see a giant lake of oil in the bottom of the dish you realize that 90% of the spices used to make the dish, by volume, have been left on the plate. Not that you even taste a lot of them, because again, everything is drowned out by the flavor of the chili. And the actual presentation of the food blows. The chinese tend to love eating tiny bits of food with huge chunks of bone, cartilage, or other inedible material embedded within the interior. They consider it an enjoyable experience to fish the meat out from around the core with their teeth and tongue, I guess. Well I don't. It's like being served a plate of tiny, hollow meatballs that have rocks in the middle. What I'm describing would probably count as Sichuan or Cantonese food, because these are by far the most popular regional variants of Chinese cuisine that exist internationally. But I'm not impressed at all by it.

Utter cope. If you visit a foreign country, but can get there on a A320/B737, that's not being well-traveled, that's just being from a small country. America is physically larger than Europe, Japan's a short flight from Korea and China, and European nations are smaller than American states.
100M Americans have passports, not super high on a percentage level, but even my Mom from bumblefuck, USA has been overseas several times on vacation.
