This is pretty bad, man. Let's try to think of ways you could improve this.
>in the US
THIS FOOD TASTES LIKE VOMIT AND YOU SUBHUMANS SHOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED TO SET FOOT IN A KITCHEN EVER AGAIN

Americans need drama. That's Ramsay's American persona.

that's what American tv producers think we want in our shows

I always thought it was the french that were "enthusiastic" about cooking like that

I realised americans really think whats on the television is reality... there is something really messed up about it...

I don't understand how can they be one of the strongest economies in the world...

not for long i guess...

thanks for this interesting read

"But many young Europeans moving to America comment on this: that it feels like you are in an episode of Friends,"

this really captures it....

The scariest thing is the simple minded americans who imitate TV because they think that is the correct way to behave and act towards their staff. How many 'head chefs' or managers watch Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares and think they better start screaming at their already demoralised staff to get the best out of them?

The most egregious thing in his American show are all the god damn sound effects and foley like you've got whenever he' digging around in a bowl of hummus or pouring sauce over something it's always that same generic oil-swirling sound. I swear I'ce heard like Half Life door-opening sounds whnever he's opening walk in fridges and the such.

The worst is all the horror movie stings like he's served some dry chicken or whatever but then he's also served an earful of violins and french horns like it's a Dead Space game and necromorphs are dropping from the ceiling.

I've often wondered how much of peoples social interactions are influenced by tv and movies. Like almost programmed from an early age how the protagonist/coolest guy should talk

He gets sent to worse places in the US, you don't see him visiting as many mold covered roach infested places in the UK version.

>> No.15009053

>>15009016
I don't think the US places were as bad as you make it sound, some yes absolutely but for the most part it was just like WAH WE NEED A MARRIAGE COUNSELLOR WE SPENT ALL OUR RETIREMENT MONEY ON A RETARDED RESTAURANT AND WE HAVEN'T HAD SEX SINCE 1987 SAVE US GORDON RAMSAY just absolute drama.

The UK version had some gross restaurants as well

I always thought the
>Gordon Ramsey plays marriage counselor and therapist
thing was hilarious. That and the editing on the American versions is so bad it makes me giggle.

funny how so many people make threads about americans. truly they live rent free in peoples heads. I'm actually amazed sometimes.

I swear the editor just had the one like Horror Movie Starter Pack for audio cues, although Hel''s Kitchen is even worse

Hell's Kitchen is better I agree, but I never understood the pseudo-military tone of the show. I've only had one food service job and it was nothing like that.

Foley overusage is insane. Sometimes I'm watching a movie from the 80s, or a totally recent one, and I'll be fully into until suddenly I hear the sound of Epona's neigh from Ocarina of Time, or the paper unfurlign sound from the N64 Castlevania game, and that's it, I need a break.

It makes one realise that these foleys serve a strange sort of signalling purpose, like those daft old sound effects from Hanna Barbera cartoons. Their function as a representation of reality is almost irrelevant. It's an abstract signal on the same level as a national flag, or a letter of the alphabet.

Everything is just a pretext for the same formulaic tat drama. It's genuinely precious. All countries have this issue, but America is so monodominatly fucked by its local variants of rote bullshit.
