I want to buy my parents a salt + pepper mill as a gift for Christmas since they're always using those pre filled grinders you buy at the store, so far I have been recommended cole & mason and peugeot. What would you recommend? I want to buy something premium that is going to last a long time.

I forgot that no one actually cooks here, everything you eat either comes out of a plastic bag, a cardboard box, a tin or mcdonalds drive thru

Can't really go wrong with peugeot, not that it makes that much of a difference.

I’m a fan of the unicorn pepper mill. I don’t see the point of a salt mill since grinding salt doesn’t release any additional flavor and preground sea salt is already dirt cheap. That being said, just make sure you’re using a metal grinder for pepper and a ceramic grinder for salt because if you accidentally reverse them you’ll break them both.

don't get a salt mill just get a salt dish

Salt mills are pointless dumb trash. Get a box of coarse kosher salt and dump it into a little bowl. I'd say get some Maldon too, but I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate it. As far as pepper grinders I have a great suggestion, but fuck you a quick google search will likely lead you there.

i have those that are pictured. They are fine. just have to wiped off the packed in salt that can oclude the grinder bits with a finger every once and a while especially if you do alot of using it over a steamy pan like i do often.

you can buy coarse salt and adjust the fineness of the grind if you want finer salt. not a huge deal but a reason for one, personally I just have a pepper grinder
