I've had one or two that actually tasted good. Most of them are just like EXTREME HOT SAUCES though where people treat it more like a competition of who can stomach the most bitterness instead of just wanting something that tastes good. I've heard it said that IPA is hard to fuck up, throw enough hops in something and give it some goofy name and fags will drink it despite tasting like bile mixed with grapefruit Lacroix. Nu breweries can never get a decent malt profile going. There's something to be said for classics like St Peters (UK) and Andechs, they figured out what tastes good.

There's some truth to that, but an oxidized IPA with 6.5lbs/bbl hops vs. 2 lbs/bbl is still going to taste like shit. The darker a beer is the more lenient it is for fucking up. Stouts are almost impossible to fuck up; even with an infection they're usually drinkable.
