Why is it that so many adults have coffee every day? Is it solely because rely on coffee? Does everyone have sleep deprivation? What are your thoughts?

It doesn’t give me any extra energy, I just enjoy the taste and the smell of black coffee. On a related note, I think coffee actually makes you more tired and gives you less energy when you start to become “dependent” on it. I had quit coffee for 6 months two years ago, the first two weeks sucked but after that you wake up with so much energy and are more alert without coffee.

I can't function without coffee somehow.
I drink a double shot of espresso within 20 minutes of waiting up otherwise I'm going to get a headache pretty quickly.
After that I usually have a double shot of espresso at lunch time out of habit.
Close to 5 pm I have another double shot of espresso cause I usually find myself being tired around then.
Around 8-9 I usually have a cup of black tea as well.
I think caffeine is actually good for you as long as you don't drink too much, only problem for me is that my teeth are stained and disgusting looking.
>Does everyone have sleep deprivation?
Not at all, I sleep a lot.

>> No.14938094

I think coffee is just a popular morning ritual. After a while it primes the mind and body for productivity as you begin to associate it with waking up. For me, it's the task of grinding the beans, cleaning the grinder, putting it in the pot, adding the water, and turning on the percolator that shakes off the morning blues and gives me time to think before I tackle my day.

Nothing that says you can't drink tea, or just have some toast. It's all about getting out of bed, getting dressed, and mentally preparing yourself to do literally anything. It definitely helps that if you're feeling like shit or didn't sleep well you can push past that initial slowness and gain momentum with the caffeine until you're far enough in for it to carry you to the end of the task.

It's a very inexpensive breakfast with bread and it tastes really good if you get fresh coffee beans and grind them yourself. If you're too lazy for that then the next best thing is a reusable k-cup and the freshest ground coffee you can get your hands on. Instant coffee has the worst taste and quality no matter what, you might as well take a nodoze pill if you just want the caffeine high.

I've never really cared for coffee. I had friends who would drink it back in high school or energy drinks. I didn't have a single energy drink until I was 20 and that was during a deployment. More social than anything. I've had Starbucks a few times later in college but it was always because of the sweet taste. I usually get most of my energy from short naps. I rarely can sleep more than 6 hours straight, so I'll usually sleep 2-3 times a day for 3 hours each.

Then whatever you think is "good" water. I used to buy bulk packs of giant brand water (like 120 0.5L bottles for $10) and it had an acidic chlorinated salty taste, probably just tap water from their stores lol. It really depends how you make it. Places like starbucks probably use 10 year old burnt coffee beans and tap water because it makes maximum profit for them. They can mask the dogshit taste by drowning it in metric tons of sugar anyway.

Coffee wakes me up because I don't drink it often, but the crash negates any benefit that comes from the coffee.

Man, that sounds fucking rough, no joke. I would probably save up some money and then leave as soon as I can, big corporations are horrible for everyone who has a sense of morale and humanity. I am not some "psychopath" memer, but its unironically true that psychopaths due to their low empathy and more importantly their almost non-existent fear and stress, thrive in such hostile environments and actually create even more dread for others, because that way they profit off of their failures.

That's actually a myth. At most it causes a pavlovian response because you drink coffee in the morning and also go to the bathroom in the morning, which you would have done anyway, but just got in the habit of doing both in close proximity every day for your entire adult life. But really it does nothing. Just another normalbitch facebook "fact" that people like to tell each other like for whatever dumbfuck reason.

I only drink coffee at work, I don't particularly like it or hate it. To me coffee is just an excuse to take a nice break.
I once did an internship in electrical maintenance at a hospital. Not only the fuckers there worked from 8 to 16 they would take a 1-hour coffee break morning and afternoon every day.

I see the problem, that seems pretty normal to me.

You get more energy because coffee blunts the cortisol spike that's part of a normal awakening

People who rely on coffee just means they are weak individuals, nothing more.

I used to drink it because I was living on 4h of sleep a night, and I needed a steady source of caffeine to make it through my morning classes.

I've come to enjoy the taste, and I don't find it does much to wake me up anymore. If I find I'm overdoing it or showing any signs of actual dependence or withdrawal, I cut it completely until things are normal-ish again.

I drink it because I like the taste. Never felt energy from drinking it or had a withdrawal symptom from not having it.
