Objectively wrong and gay ways to drink whisky:
- Water added
- Ice added
- Chilled in any way
- In a glass that is not skinnier on top than on bottom for the funneling of aromas to the nose
- Finishing a dram in under 30 minutes, typically due to taking too big of sips
You're gayer than Richard Simmons sucking Michelle Obama's penis if you do any of these things. Deal with it.

Oftentimes, they're limited by formal rules of how a particular type of whiskey must be made.

The whiskey I just posted in the post above yours is a blend of Japanese malt and imported (read: Scottish) grain whiskies, finished in Japanese pine. It's, uh, different.

Cedar smells nice but I have doubts people would appreciate drinking the flavor of natural insect repellent. I'd be more interested in woods like cherry, maple, and old fruit trees, personally.

Otherwise, I'd say I've had some good cubans (can't remember what they were) and some good AVOs (the AVO Signatures a number of years ago). As for drink I'd pair with, probably a whisky with some sliced peaches/nectarines as I'd usually smoke in the summer time.

They are good, Cuban tobacco is well reknowned for a reason but there's a few issues.

1. The manufacturing and quality can be a bit hit and miss which combined with the price you pay for them can be annoying. There's not a lot of consistency with them even at the higher ends but of course the more expensive they are, the better chances.
2. Other cigars from other countries can be just as good if not better. The soil, the blend of tobacco in the cigar, and so on can really affect the flavour. If you pick a Dominican and a Nicaraguan cigar for instance chances are you can tell the difference between the two instantly. Also non-Cuban manufacturers typically offer cheaper cigars and have more consistency and quality of construction and tobacco even at the lower price points.

Cubans are great, but they're not the be all, end all of the cigar world. Other cigars from other places and cigar houses are just as good if not better and a lot of their mystique comes solely from the fact that the US embargo. However if you really like the flavour profile of a Cuban then you will likely want to stick with them because again it'll be different to other countries. That said, don't box yourself in, buy and try and experiment. Not had a cigar from a country before? Buy some cheaper ones and see if you can pick out the flavour notes associated with it. Honduran cigars tend to be more peppery and sharp, Nicargauan more nutty, Domincan more vegetable, Cubans tend to be sweeter and so on. This is also a very broad look at flavour profiles and you can get some from a place that taste very different due to how the cigar is blended and made but it's what I've found.

The Balvenie is quite nice, but wouldnt necessarily say its worth $60. the Glenfarclas(now witha good cork!) is a bit like lemon pledge and the Glendronach is spiced cake like. Plantation is more of a breather from the bitter side, kind of one note. I enjoy them all in a way, but if I'm going to drink them I dont want more guilt attached to depleting a bottle in a week or so.

been lookin for Mellow Corn for 2 months and the dude at the store who takes care of shipments said they are having packing shortages "not enough bottles" is what he told me. last time they got a delivery was 3-4 months ago. Is the Heaven Hill BiB any good? i really want to try something that isnt the typical bourbon sipper/fruity Islay/peaty monster or sherry bomb territory, but between exorbitant cost of shit like Springbank, Oban, Arran etc and the availability of the cheap stuff, I try to find the sweet spot.

Redbreast 12 and Green Spot are the obvious choices for an Irish in that price range. Ardbeg 10 and Laphroaig 10 are the obvious choices for a peated single malt Scotch in that price range. Redbreast and Laphroaig are the more commonly found bottles.
Look into what your competitors are selling and for what price. Maybe you can get some new customers by carrying what your local competitors don't, if they don't carry Ardbeg or Green Spot, for example.
