Brisket smokers give me your redpills. Do you ever use cardboard in the smoking process?

No, that's a good way of killing yourself by infusing toxic chemicals from the glue into your food.

To fan the fire in the smoke box, yes from time to time. But to burn? No.

Nice consecutive dubs and a trip!

Reading more into it, I see what I'm looking at is suggesting to wrap the cardboard in foil and then puncture that and smoke the brisket like the pic I used.

Fresh shiso (perilla) leaf and smoked brisket is a magical combination

OP, I think you mean a homemade smokebox.

I will buy wood chips by the bag, those little 1 gallon bags, and make a foil box, just fold it alot to make some sides, making 2 trays, soak the chips a moment toss them in, use 1 tray as a nesting lid, poke your holes. I use some slits from a knife, to and bottom. I lay the foil box on the gas grill when I light it full blast, and by the time you have a nice temp in there, and brushed off your grill, the wood is smoking. out the holes.
Smoke goes into the brisket best at the beginning, cold meat sucks it up.
So, once the smoke starts, I lower the temp a bit to maintain about 225F for my roasts, and it's uncovered first hour. Wrap in foill after that or if you have any issues keeping the temp you want, nice and low.

The box can be reused without filling a few times if doing quicker items like pork, chicken, or burgers.

Noted. Thank you very much!

Just remember you don't have to smoke and cook at the same time.

this, especially good for non-bbq items like mac & cheese and cole slaw
