Eggs are translucent and mold will start growing on the shell. It is pretty easy to spot. I live in America, though. I don't know about European eggs that are kept at room temperature.

Of course fresh eggs taste better, but eating eggs past their expiration date wont kill you. Eggs that expired in June may, though.
