Some anons have asked why there isn't sticky on /ck/, so why don't we make one? Since it's always best if a community makes its own sticky, here's an opportunity to do so. Please use this thread as a place to develop a post which I can lock and sticky as a welcome message and resource to new posters.

What I'd like to end up with is a single brief post containing handful of useful links/helpful tips/etc, the expected behavior of users, and a single high-quality image suitable for a long-lasting sticky. If there is too much information for a single post, try to organize the content into a handful of posts at most. A sticky doesn't need to contain all the knowledge of the board's userbase! Just the absolute basics.

Stickies suck. I appreciate your effort, but the problem is that they often become outdated. 4chan(nel) should be ephemeral and flowing. It is an anonymous imageboard, after all. "Generals" and stickies are the antithesis to this. They constrain discussion and then become poor imitations of forums. If you need a curated list of resources from a community, go to a proper forum or, God forbid, Reddit.

There should be something about not trying to force generals, particularly OC. There is no unified resource that can be universally agreed upon because tastes on food and method differ. They're personal preference.
This board was asked about a sticky and no one could come up with what should be in it.

I don't really post on /diy/ but it covers such a wide range of shit that'd be pretty much impossible to cover right there. A project on /diy/ might be about farming, or might be about woodworking, which are two wildly different things. On /ck/, cooking has a pretty clean and clear entry level.

Googling shit is fucking wasteful and you'd hope someone on here would be able to help a beginner sift through the bullshit and find a good start. There’s a whole family of spiders living in my bathroom. I’m schizophrenic and can’t really take care of myself or living space, so my room and bathroom are an incredibly dirty, gross mess. a sticky always has a stale "waste of space" feel for me. it lists a few common sense rules as a way for mods and jannies to issue bans in an effort to keep the focus of the board. However it never ends up affecting board culture and posting on a deep level. The old way of stating the rules of the board was a good old "THIS USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST" with an additional locking. That kind of shit sticks with the average anon as it's often meme worthy. additionally, on a slower board like /ck/, the ban post will stay around for a while. Then there's regional variations for the same kind of food to consider, look at any thread that even mentions chili what if the sticky had a link to a simple recipe that included beans?
