Yes, get one. They're generally faster to heat up than a stovetop option and they're more energy efficient because the heating element is inside the kettle instead of under it.

If you have any interest in trying to do pourover coffee go for one with a gooseneck spout to save yourself a lot of trouble.

Easier to control how much water you pour and where it goes. When you're trying to pour a steady stream of near-boiling water to just keep coffee grounds submerged without overflowing and make sure you're not missing any spots, using a standard spout is a pain in the ass.

For most applications a regular one works fine, but if you think you'd want to use it for anything like that then get the gooseneck.

An electric kettle is standard in any country that has 220v-240v mains.
A kettle is to a toaster as boiling water on a stove is to toasting bread under a grill. You can do it both ways but one is less of a hassle and is probably worth the investment.

Hi, ho! Kermit the Frog here. Shalom!
Today I’d like to talk to you, boys & girls, about being a Jew.
Being a Jew is wonderful! There are many special things about our culture & practices!
Judaism is a very ancient religion with a very very rich heritage. It’s followers live all around the world. And there are about 100 different types of Jews: Orthodox Hasidic diamond merchant jews, Ashkenaz, Sephardim, Jews who watch John Stewart , and even goyim who pretend to be one of us!
Sure, there’s been persecution. Let’s be frank, a LOT of persecution. But we get a lot of holidays! I think that’s a good deal. And Jews love a good deal! Let’s just say you can get a Jew’s attention with a book of coupons!
Also, we’re always neck deep in cheesecake & blintzes! And Matzo balls! We Jews love to nosh. Jews are always thinking of when & where they’ll be eating next! And HOW they’ll be eating! Like my Bubbeh always says: don’t blame me, we’re a picky people!

Filtration doesn't soften water. It'll remove things causing off flavors but it's not going to prevent mineral buildup, you need a water softener for that if you've got hard water.

That said, it's easy to just clean it every once in a while with vinegar to remove the issue entirely, or you can just ignore it since it won't actually affect the thing at all unless you have crazy hard water, in which case you really should have a softener for the sake of your pipes and fixtures.
