Sałatka jarzynowa, which literally translates to "vegetable salad" which I guess is a bit like potato salad or coleslaw only it's quite bland and has an extremely unappealing texture an appearance. It's a traditional Easter dish in Poland and there isn't a single family gathering I've been to where my parents don't make this disgusting shit.

Those are some of the biggest area of CA though, I know when it comes specifically to a food, you'll have no end to people telling you that the 5 places you went to were wrong, you have to go to their place. I've seen it specifically with Philly's and NYC pizza. But yeah, It's "simple" but having good gravy seems like the deceptively simple part, and so many places had what was basically fast food or grocery store brown gravy. A couple places had incredible gravy, but then they were usually busy, and you got a container of mush. Let it cook on low-medium heat for 1,5 hours.
When you have a bit of fat from the saussages and ribs on the top of the broth,add 1-2 teaspoons dried marjoram.
Taste it and add salt or instantbroth like you want it.
Let it cook another 30 Minutes.

It's a very nice hearty soup excellent for camping or winter time, it's nutritious as well. The only off putting thing is the color if you didn't grow up with it, otherwise you'd just associate the color with the food itself.

I think you may have misread something, I never mentioned philly-italian-food (although, I would have assumed they'd have plenty!) just that I failed to appreciate the Chicago-signature-Italian-Beef-sandwich, until I'd gone and tried the somewhat-related Philly Cheesesteak in Philadelphia, which I found to be so profoundly lame that it gave me a greater appreciation for my local flavors upon returning home.
