You can eat an entire high quality sushi meal for the price of most fast food meals these days.

And yet an outdated shitty iPhone still costs 5x the price of their modern competitors.

This is mostly true. I don’t know about the high quality part. Not where I live you don’t.

Well I’m in Vancouver. So much sushi. So much competition.

Home made sushi is super cheap if you’re making rolls without flash frozen fish

Even then it’s cheap if you buy in bulk

A great food for a long life

And poke too

Trips of truth. Sushi is not filling at all and especially not for what they charge

This is probably true. Big brand fast food is really overpriced. I can get a better, larger portion for a lower price from any decent local diner or bar

Don't you guys have all-you-can-eat buffets where you live?

you guys might be ordering wrong. You have to get a good amount of fatty and lean fish. Mackerel or monkfish liver will be more fulfilling than your typical lean tuna or yellowtail

also just eat more, I usually get 2-3 rolls and a handful of nigiri per person

These days I can get a six inch long, one inch diameter roll of sushi at the grocery for the price of three or four burgers. Burger and a drink if I get it somewhere worth the cost. Fine for a treat now and then but it's not a meal. On days when I get up early, I'll have a bowl of rice, can of sardines, top with furikake and microwave for a minute. Total cost is about $1.20.

I've got Chinese, Indian, grocery, and Golden Corral buffets. There are three Japanese restaurants, two for regular meals and one for fine dining. Even when I lived in Seattle I never saw an all-you-can-eat Japanese buffet.

>>14626075
It's different on the coasts.

>also just eat more, I usually get 2-3 rolls and a handful of nigiri per person
I've never been to a restaurant where you could get all that shit cheaper than a fast food meal.

Well how can you not fill up when you can eat as much as you want? Or are you some other anon who I wasn't replying to?

I don't think that's an accurate statement. Anything labeled sushi tends to command a premium because the Japanese are masters of the upsell. I can certainly get enough kimbap to fill my fat ass up for $8 though.

You weren't replying to me but it's true that sushi isn't filling. Two rolls and an order of nigiri would be filling enough but it would cost $20-30. You can fill up at Taco Bell for under $10.

See that's why you go to an all-you-can eat buffet, because it's cheap as fuck. Costs 10€ over here and you can eat all the sushi plus other Asian food you ever want

over here the sushi places aren't doing as much volume as normal times so sometimes you can get freaking smoking deals on various fish at the Asian places - not the best cuts possible but but very fresh and cheap and you can cut it all into sashimi.

This is going to make a lot of snobs seethe but I LOVE sushi from my local kroger. I'll get a pack every 4 days or so and munch down on a delicious variety of tuna, salmon, and california rolls. It's no fresh Unagi covered in roe but it's pretty damn fucking good for being out in the middle of nowhere indiana. What I find interesting is the AFC sushi labels on the boxes are the same at other grocery stores like Jewel Osco in different states. Does that company just loan out little asian people to roll sushi in grocery stores around the county?
