Whats your favorite iteration of the humble, yet reserved hamburger?

For me, its the patty melt, the most patrician of all burgers.

A good mushroom and Swiss gets the job done.

>> No.14601300

I’ve had some good burgers in my time. Uh I... I love a good swiss, melted swiss cheese and mush- roasted mushrooms and caramelized onions on a burger. Uh that is hot stuff, you can get that at- at a number of different places.

My dad's burgers cooked on the grill outside on a comfy weekend. I'm not home much anymore but whenever we cookout it always makes me feel good since we used to have them like every weekend when i was a kid.

I'm a simple person with simple expectations for a good burger. I like them thick, slight char on the outside and soft and medium rare on the inside. After that, I don't give a rats ass. Whatever combo of veggies, cheese or other toppings is fine by me. As long as the foundation is solid, the house will never fall.

Grilled on a flat top, with onions smashed into the top as characteristic of my region. Two patties with cheese, with mustard and pickles. For the fries, pepper sauce that they keep behind the counter.

The Everyman burger, unpretentious fuel for living, but not without joy. No crying about how done the burger is like with a thick patty. This is the burger that built America, and the burger that will power it for years to come.

Now we're talking. For some reason I really enjoy a yolky fried egg on a burger even though I never eat eggs that way otherwise. I order pic related whenever I go to this local burger joint, sub pepperjack for American cheese. And yes the 'Spanish' sauce is green chili based.

Double smashburger with cheese, onion, pickles, mustard, and ketchup. Or if it's a traditional burger, something like pepperjack, onions, sliced jalapenos (pickled is fine), and a good BBQ sauce.

I figure this is the best place to ask as anywhere else; I've never understood the appeal of barbecue. Don't get me wrong, burgers and hot dogs off the barbecue taste great, but you've gotta be losing a bunch of flavor just from the juices escaping burgers/steaks, etc. So far the positives are grill marks and maybe a bit of charcoal taste to the burgers, but wouldn't most meats just taste better in a frying pan/stovetop?

The juices fall into the flames and burn adding a smoky flavor to the meat. And if your using charcoal or smoking it with wood it does this even more.
Inb4 autists talk about its grilling.

Yup. And you were able to get akaushi beef for a couple bucks more but that seems unavailable at the moment. Their chips are so good. Didn't think anyone else here would recognize a Flips burger by menu description alone.
