I have autism. Uniform consistency in personally pleasant textures and in taste is what appeals to me in food, and I can eat such food indefinitely if I'm not forcing myself to eat varied nutritious meals. It took me until adulthood to enjoy food with more complex flavors. I didn't start eating black pepper until my 20s. I focus on eating a varied fruit for lunch and a varied vegetable with my varied meat dinner to make sure I don't die.

It doesn't matter how much more my taste refines with experience and bolder risks, I will still always crave buttered white rice, plain buttered pasta, milk chocolate bars, cheese pizza, grilled cheese and creamy pbj's, mac and cheese, buttered bread... anything consistently soft, creamy, uniform textures and simple flavors.

Those are the big ones. I'll always be spergy when it comes to my food, but I'd rather order sperg food than be risky and sperg out in public. I try to experiment on my terms (going out alone) or when I'm cooking, which means you don't see the sperg me training myself to eat more.

I'm better than the spaghetti and pbj's only person I was 10 years ago, and I hope to be even better in 10 more years. This turned out longer than I wanted, sorry.

Thanks. I think my father is a sperg too, but he's never been diagnosed. He's in his late 60s and still only ever eats hamburgers with only American cheese when we go out. He eats plain wings, microwaved hot dogs, plain steak... he's probably more what OP is talking about. It's pretty impossible to get him to try new foods throughout my whole childhood, and he's worse now that he's older. 100% agree OP, I grew up poor with limited options and anybody that refuses food or wastes it make me insanely angry. There are foods I'm not partial to, like liver, but if you put it in front of me for free, I'll eat it. Outright refusing to consume nourishment that is good enough for 95% of humans because you don't like the flavor or texture is bitch mode.

I will say however, I don't mind people have preferences and ordering what you want, but I want to murder people in social situations who categorically rule out certain types of cuisine. There are a lot of people I've known who refuse to eat at any restaurant that doesn't offer tacos, burgers, or pizza.

I only started eating ranch in the past three years. I think what makes ranch enjoyable over mayo is the very liquid consistency. Keep in mind I don't eat bottled ranch, I only ever get ranch when I'm out at a diner, which is much more runny in consistency.
