Does anyone have any good chicken recipes for a rice cooker? My new place doesn't have a stove so I'm making due with what I have until I get that situation sorted.

So when this guy asked if you had a good recipe, and you responded by passing him the first response from google what you should have said was no.

I have nothing to offer you. But I will say using a rice cooker like a standard pot will take you far. Like boiling chicken in there and shredding it, using it like a slow cooker. etc.

i used to do this thing where I would make rice then like two - three minutes before it was done I'd crack en egg on top and let the steam cook it.

This is my second and last advice for free, i cant believe you cant cook meat with a flat metal surface that heats to 212+ degrees.

I have no advice on rice cooker chicken, but when I was a broke college kid I would do two cups of rice and a slice of butter in the cooker and place a peeled tomato on top (boil the tomato for like 3 minutes and the skin slides right off). When its done, I just mashed up the tomato into the rice, seasoned it and sometimes added a drained can of beans.

I don't cook in a rice cooker, but I did cook on my patio in a microwave and crock pot on my back patio Was hard work washing items in my bathtub or the hose, etc for the better part of 4 weeks during a kitchen remodel once. Years ago I had a 2 tier steamer.
There are many many recipes that are simmered in sour cream and condensed soup, and the chicken makes it's own sauce blending those juices with rice, potatoes, even noodles in the pot. The formula is going to be missing some browning, so make sure you make use of peppers or spices to add a bit more ooomph.
I make one dish baked yogurt chicken that is basically cooked in its prepped marinade of :bone-in or boneless (skinless is fine) greek yogurt, ginger, lemon juice, chopped garlic and garam masala (indian spice blends of your choosing such as cumin, ginger, cayenne, coriander, turmeric, etc). This is all finished after cooking with a sprinkle of cilantro, optional.
You can obviously dump in a can of stewed tomatoes, regular recipe or seasoned italian, and they tenderize and keep the meat moist, a cut up zucchini or bag of fresh spinach, can wilt, and you can tuck this into a sub roll or with a side.
The ultimate diet food is just steamed chicken, maybe a layer of mrs dash or herbs on top which will cling on top, just add enough water to make the steamer work. Serve on top of a bagged salad, or chop into chicken salad once cooled.
When cooking in steam?? Mock up some mayo based dipping sauces, and a squeeze of lime or lemon at the end doesn't hurt.

>> No.14561520

INGREDIENTS
Makes 4 servings
2 T soy sauce
1 T oyster sauce
1 T Shaoxing wine
1 T white or red miso
1/2 t kosher salt
1/2 t sugar
1/2 t sesame oil
+ white pepper
4 boneless, skin-on chicken thighs, cut into 1 pieces
8 fresh shiitake mushroom caps, thinly sliced, or 4 dried shiitakes, soaked, stemmed, and thinly sliced
1 C chicken stock or water
1 slice (¼” thick) fresh ginger
2 scallions, cut into 1 pieces
rice, rinsed and drained

PREPARATION
In a large bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, wine, miso, salt, sugar, sesame oil, and a few grinds of white pepper. Add the chicken and mushrooms and fold to coat.
Combine the rice, stock, and ginger in the rice cooker

Scrape the chicken mixture and all of the marinade on top of the rice. Scatter with scallions. Cover, start the rice cooker, and cook until the cycle is done. Open the lid and check the chicken for doneness.

Depending on your model, the chicken may need a couple more minutes to cook through. If it does, set the rice cooker for another cycle, press start, and check again in 5 minutes.
