For me, it's the Indian Ocean anchovy.

- tastes like a whitefish but tiny
- cheap
- sustainable
- favorable fat composition (not too oily, can eat a lot)
- no fishy burps
- translucent skin with silver streak running, looks cool as hell

What brand do you get for that? Unless you're lucky enough to buy fresh.

Mine from Crown Prince taste like whitefish but have some fucked chemical warnings.

these anchovies are netted in bangladesh backwaters which is basically more raw sewage than ocean water

I actually don't remember the brand, I have an Indian store near me and they sell big frozen packs for $6 or so, 2 or 3 lbs per bag. Already gutted but that probably varies by distributor

The important part is that it's Stolephorus indicus, and it looks just like the pics.

It's low on oil content so makes for really good frying. It basically tastes like a whitefish (think pollock)

i didn't post those diagrams, but you have to be fucking retarded if you think the mediterranean has more feces than the indian ocean where they literally send dead bodies down the river along with every piece of the garbage and untreated sewage that 4 billion people produce

It's not life changing, it's just a nice lowish-oil anchovy. But if you really want I'm sure you can find some online.

The vast bulk of ocean pollution comes from commercial vessels dumping waste and ballast. However, the water quality in any large body of water can't compare to the sheer levels of e.coli you'd find in inlets where recreational boats moor. It's common practice (and often perfectly legal) to jettison untreated human waste into the harbour water. This isn't a third-world exclusive thing, either. I'd highly recommend not eating anything that comes out of the waters of a populated harbour.
