I mean, its kind of tough for a small company to launch a food or beverage product now. The big guys are unbeatable on price, so the only space left is the high-end market. If you just made a cheap, sugary drink that tastes great, you'll have to sell it for twice as much as all your direct competition and you just lose before you get out of the gate.

What you do is start out selling at market stands. Then if you manage to increase demand you can convince some smaller stores to stock your product. What you want at this point is for a scout for one of the big companies to notice that you might eventually be competition, so the company will have incentive to buy you out and sink the product. That's where you make most of your profit.
