The best Army food I had was on deployment when everything was KBR contractors providing and serving. The the cooks in GSSC gave no fucks and shafted us on quantity, and made mediocre food. And our weekend chow hall was the hospital cafeteria instead of the Group chow hall, so not only did we have to go way the fuck over there instead of next door, they had hard restrictions of how much of each serving type you could get.

MREs are hit and miss, but were pretty decent to live on for a few weeks. I was pissed they dropped country captain chicken, it was actually pretty good, and nobody else took it.
