It's the same actual material, so funny how "studies" can be utter crap. This pan's claim to fame should be nothing more than an better polished surface, such that after you season it, it should be smoother and more likely to be closer to a nonstick nature. Period.

An expert cast iron manufacturer said the rough surface is the reason why they can be seasoned better than other pans in Adam Ragusas video on cast iron.

>> No.14493722

For that price, why not buy two Le Creuset enameled cast iron? I mean I love my cast iron but since I upgraded they've just sat unused for at least 5 years. Sometimes I'll pull out the DeBuyer but if you can save $50 a month there's no reason to not have enameled, and bare CI has no advantages over it other than price.

>> No.14493733

>>14493719

There's a reason old Wagners and Lodges are coveted by CI nerds, the smoother surface from the older manufacturing process makes them better suited to cooking than the modern shit does.

What the hell kind of newfangled overengineered monstrosity of a skillet is that?

Also, the first thing you should cook in your cast iron pan after seasoning it is always a fatty cut of meat. Streaky bacon, well marbled ribeye, whatever.
