What do you think it tastes like? I'm guessing it tastes like the original Leinenkugel's beer.

Amber lager? I don't fucking think so. If this is an attempt to cash in on the type of beer Hank Hill drinks, they got the entire fucking thing wrong.

It's like when Universal Orlando put in a Simpsons themed area with a Moe's Tavern and hired some brewery to make a Duff Beer. The result was an American Pale Ale. Just completely wrong for the type of beer Homer would drink.

Why wouldn't it be a pale ale?

Nobody wants to spend good money to get an experience at an amusement park and have to drink another shitty macro lager because it would be more authentic. APAs are probably the most inoffensive style of beer that still has flavor.

American lagers are perfect for amusement parks, light and refreshing. Smells like reddit in here.

Not everyone likes everything to be sweet, and those are both dry, so not good for walking around all day in 90 degree heat.

I mean, fair point, but you underestimate how bitter even basic bitch APAs are to your average tourist.

Because Homer and Hank Hill drink cheap lagers.

>> No.14482735

>>14482705
I get that, but I feel like the people who only drink macro lagers would be more willing to try an APA in that context, because it's kind of like, "I've been wondering what Duff tastes like since I was a kid", so it would make sense if it was something a little interesting and different. Everyone else would just be pissed if they paid $15 for a Bud Lite clone in a Duff can with a plastic cup.

I've been wondering what butterbeer tastes like since I read the HP series as a kid, but I'd bet my last dollar that what they serve at Universal is some overly sugary, artificial-flavor-laden butterscotch swill to appeal to the masses, not some hipstery herbal concoction to "justify the price for their guests"

>> No.14482957

>>14482775
Does the book give a basic recipe for butterbeer? Sounds like something you could make at home, not something like Alamo or Duff where the point is to taste exactly what that brand is like

>> No.14482972

>>14482957
The books describe it as rich and it sounds like it warms you up as you drink it. It seems to be very lightly alcoholic.

It's one of those fictional drinks that I don't think anyone could actually make accurately.

Coors Banquet is great stuff

It's like Lone Star. Light, crisp, American adjunct lager.

Duff would be closer to Coors or Miller. Pawtucket Patriot ale from family guy is Sam Adams Boston lager.

Slurm is surge cola.

They obviously copied the label because it has nationwide distribution and is easier to make jokes about, but you're fucking retarded if you think it would be anything other than Narragansett.

There is a whole episode about it being drank (and poisoning) people in Mexico. So it's probably a in-between of like Miller/Bud and Corona

original Leinenkugel's beer is hard to find outside of the midwest. The shandy is everywhere though.

Alamo beer has a bunch of different varieties. I live in San Antonio and see their stuff at the grocery store all the time. It's ok, but nothing special. The amber lager and pilsner are probably my favorites.
