The problem with Esselstyns health trials is that there were also other recommendations he made along with his diet that has already been proven to reverse heart disease like... quitting smoking, exercising more, not drinking... I mean shit, just losing weight will reverse or halt coronary artery disease.

So if someone quits smoking, exercises more, stops drinking and eats a low carb animal based diet and loses weight that way wont that also reverse or halt coronary artery disease?

I mean, is there a one size fits all diet for optimal human health?

>good for your body
no real proof of this, and you need to use supplements for some nutrients
>good for the environment
if everyone went vegan we would need a lot more intensive agriculture, or good quality products wouldn't be available for everyone
>sustainable
if you want to feed everybody you need intensive agriculture, see above
>healthy
which is the same as good for your body and just as wrong
>ethical
I've no ethical/moral problem with eating meat, just as most other people around the globe
>religiously friendly
really? how is this an actual argument for veganism?
>no animals are harmed
this in theory is correct but, this goes for vegetarianism not veganism, chickens are not harmed by someone taking their unfertilized eggs which they would lay anyway. but the question i'd like to ask any vegan is: let's assume everyone went with your idea and became vegan what the fuck would we do with all the cows? and the chickens? they have no natural habitat since they have been bred to be farm animals.

for the garden bit i assume the person writing the post owns at least a couple of acres of land to farm and greenhouses to have vegetables during the winter.

Just eat a little bit of everything and buy quality stuff when you can, don't radicalize everything.

Not worth it to show off harvest. I have been eating tons of cucumber and zuchhini, ate my first watermelon last week. Cherry tomatoes are ripening and broccoli is coming in. Already ate most of the peas, and getting ready to pick and replant the last of my beets and turnips Picked green beans but I realized I hate green beans so I left them aside from one jar I pickled.
Already got my second batch of radishes going, my sunflowers are opening, and peppers are forming.
Not bad for a first timer having no clue wtf is going on and getting half my shit eaten by pests (I refuse to use any sort of unnatural pesticides)

I have no clue when my corn or potatoes will be ready for harvest.

But the best part is all my failed crops I dont eat/want to eat go to my ducks, and allegedly ducks are winter layers so when your garden is dead I'll be getting fresh eggs and meat >:3 In the meantime they are excellent pasture management (they are on rotating pasture), where they roost at night makes the grass greener and more lush. Can't wait for chicken so I can have some compost management though. Ducks aren't scratchers and are a bit pickier when it comes to food, they prefer semi aquatic insects (beetles and slugs being a favorite), whereas chickens would be great for eating maggots out of duck shit/compost..

Man has eaten meat since the dawn of time. Why change it now?

>> No.14460788

>>14460390
Most people do it because they feel bad about animals needing to be killed. It's probably partially from how many people are completely removed from the process, so they go decades without thinking about all the animals that had to die, and it hits them all at once.

I think it's good to at least go vegan or vegetarian temporarily, until you feel like your body really needs you to eat some meat so you learn to fully appreciate it. I think that's what most people do because the majority of people who go vegan don't seem stay vegan. Other than that, the health benefits and such are overstated and it has its own problems because plants don't provide complete nutrition. I wouldn't expect veganism to really matter anymore once lab-grown meat gets into stores too, a lot of vegans already say they'll eat it.

Compared to non-vegetarians, vegetarians have reduced body mass index (BMI), serum cholesterol, serum glucose and blood pressure with a lower mortality rate due to ischemic heart disease (IHD) [17,204]. However, underestimating the correct supplementation of cobalamin (Cbl) can nullify these benefits [103].

You just need to go with multiple sources for stuff like this and try to compare as much info as you can handle. Information coming from a vegan source or meat industry source doesn't necessarily mean it's incorrect, they both want to push something and you need to see it from both sides. Most people don't eat enough unprocessed plants and they do have a lot of health benefits, but they don't provide complete nutrition and the best diets seem to include at least a little bit of meat or other animal products.
