do you know anything about taco bell? Have you not seen how fast food in general has taken their lead? Chiptole nabbed one of their execs, maybe it was the CEO because they've seen how the novelty based dynamic menu has really promoted growth and driven business.

Retiring some old or less popular menu items is not a bad move. An overly bloated menu is bad thing, whether it's a ritzy restuarant or fast food. When Kitchen Nightmares goes to these terrible places one of the things they always do is shrink the menu and focus on anything they have in their favor. Five Guys is fantastic and they hardly have anything, same for In-n-Out. Jack in the box has a million things on the menu and it's all shit. Only Sonic's really gets a way with that, but even then they clearly do some things better than others.

If you look outside food, Apple had a stellar run after Job's return shrinking the Mac line and focusing only a few products, carefully and slowly introducing one or two SKUs a year, mostly as replacements for outgoing models. Starbucks is a model of efficiency with production - a lot of that is achieved by using common ingredients.

Taco Bell's core menu and signature items are based on this same philosophy. I'm fine with this if it helps taco bell stay fast with orders. The only thing I might miss on this list is the soft steak taco but not all of this stuff is available depending where you go anyway. I've never heard of at least half of it and I go about as regularly as a healthy individual could.

The only one I’m surprised by is the nacho supreme and the quesarito, my guess is the quesarito is to expensive when compared to the 5 layer which is the same burrito (minus the chipotle sauce as well) with beans instead of rice which is an easy swap for them to do if you request it, you could even ask for the sauce and to have it grilled and you would basically have the same burrito. Not sure why they are getting rid of the nachos but I only every got them a few times so I don’t really care. Everything else going away is whatever.
