Having a real hard time finding a practical use for a dehydrator I was gifted. Outside of very specific situations where I would want to dehydrate some food I'm not sure what to use it for regularly.

What are some regular and frequent applications I can apply? It's just going to be sitting in a cabinet otherwise.

You dehydrate for long conservation of excessive amounts of perishable food, not on a daily basis. Would you brew beer every day just to keep your equipment from collecting dust?

Yes. Absolutely. Who would let a good brewery go to waste?

find something you like enough to buy every time you go to the store and so you can keep dehydrating it.

Cherry season. Dehydrate cherries when the prices are lowest. Look up guides for pitting and drying. Dried cherries are amazing.

I just got a dehydrator recently and honestly I’m not sure what I’m ever going to use it for because I’m not sure if it’s actually capable of turning meat into jerky reliably

It works, if just takes a really long time. It was cheap as fuck from a thrift store. I’m thinking I can use it for small fruits and safer things like that, maybe herbs or plants for teas like other anons suggested.

make kale chips. Fucking delicious.
Beef Jerky.
Dried strawberries for oatmeal and icecream.
Dried mango to snack on.
Pork jerky.
Fish jerky.
Dried squid.
If you're a fan of making your own snacks, a dehydrator is gonna be a good tool to have.

You could make your own grounded herbs and spices. Dried fruits and/or berries for salads work too. Jerky is another. You can make chips out of any vegetable or kale or whatever.
