I wouldn't give up eating meat but I would gladly pay for lab grown over the real thing, provided lab grown meat isn't too expensive.

I obviously could chose not to eat meat, but I see no reason why I would. I value the flavor of even one bite of meat more than the life of every animal that has ever suffered in a farm or ever will.

And if a vegan wants to get in the way, he's welcome to become part of the menu too. Om nom nom.

I ate a strict vegan diet for 9 months just to see what it's like. I was living with people who left butter out, which is their prerogative, but I found myself debating for nearly 8-10 hours one day if I'd put butter on some toast, that's when I realized I had learned my lesson. I've watched a video of a pig playing a rudimentary video game at a higher level than most toddlers and I ate some pork earlier. I'd like to pretend that possessing intelligence would change my dietary habits and I'd stick to oysters and whatnot but it just hasn't

Pigs are delicious and cute.
I want to eat them, but I always want them to be treated well until the time comes for butchering them.

That's why I get (most of) my pork from a local swinefarmer. I pick out my porker when he's still a puppy and can come visit him and feed him treats as he grows up.
I don't have kids of my own but I'll sometimes bring my cousin's girl, she's 8 now, so she can pet the pigs on their snouts and feed them leftovers from my kitchen.

That pork tastes a million times better than the stuff from the supermarket, and I get to know for a solid fact that my piggy had a good life with kindness, fresh air and mud, and the occasional cookie or banana from me.
Good for me, and good for the pig.

I cant wait to raise my own heritage hog for meat. I'm gonna raise them really well on the best diet and life I can possibly provide, I have tons of land and wooded area for shade, they will help heal my land by providing fertilizer and natural land disturbance and eating all my food scraps. It will live under blue skies and on green grass, always moving.

Then I will kill it with my own hands as quickly as possible. A death only a human, the merciful apex predator, can provide. Only then when it is no longer alive will it finally provide for me the way I did for it. I will butcher it and get to know what comes from where in person. I will prepare it's flesh carefully and lovingly. I will render its lard and suet and it will just keep giving and giving until there is nothing left but dry bonemeal which I will return to the Earth, from which we all come.

I love animals~<3

I've always wondered like...how could we colonize space if so many animal products contribute to society and at most we could bring a handful of animals to space which would quickly become inbred?

Animals associated with the sea or the sky would also be way harder to bring.
