I'm always confused by this guy. He posts whenever gas stoves are discussed and always posts pictures of explosions caused by a gas leak. But the pictures are often from UK homes, where until recently every home was connected to a gas main, and there are still more electrical fires destroying homes every year in the UK than gas fires or explosions...

Don't buy GE. They don't fix their own products, so if you have an issue, they outsource. I have a GE washer and it busted, so they sent out a guy who works on snowblowers in my area to look at it.
Go with a more industrial brand -- viking, blue star, Bosch. That way if it breaks, then a professional kitchen appliance maintenance crew with 100% be familiar with the product. Dont go cheap and buy a bulletproof warranty.

At least 1 burner should be much higher BTUs for rapid boiling of a larger pot, or say a stock pot of water for pasta, or else high heat saute and stir fry plans.

I would also look at flame covers that are heavier, coated cast iron kind of covers that look like they could work inside the oven (that same oven coating), but lift off easily for wiping down spills.
Take 2 of your favorite pots to the store. Are they going to fit side by side, on all 4 burners? Many stoves are putting them just too close together, like you would ever want to use all 4 at once, let alone two at once. A nice empty space in the middle is also nice, when you want something completely off the flame. If your current slot only allow a substandard stove? Maybe it's time for some new cabinets and full upgrade.

The underlying stuff is probably OK, but the real money from companies like that is from contracting out on the parts and such. It's just plain goofy how much they make on that level. The initial sales is just loss leader stuff, that's nothing compared to the maintenence contracts and parts and shit. You should see government contracts that companies like Boeing and Lockheed do.

If you think $1500 is an ABSURD amount for a range, you're just a poorfag moron.

Not to mention, 18k BTU is FAR beyond your claim of ~9000BTU. You just don't like the fact you look like a fucking moron for saying something that fucking stupid. Even sub $500 ranges have burners above 9000BTU.

sure, but many people already have gas lines installed, there is no reason to go replacing your old gas range with an induction or electric, you can easily buy a new gas range that is excellent.

Obviously if you can't afford to run a gas line, I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to do so, i'd say just get a high end induction electric range.

It's not so much the cost of the actual unit, it's getting the deinstall of the old one and install of the new one done.
