So I made some sassafras tea, from the roots of the sassafras tree, and I have a lot of root leftover, and a lot of tea leftover, but I don’t want to drink a whole lot of the tea as one of the chemicals in the root is a carcinogenic chemical. How should I store the roots? How should I store the tea?

I'm from the south and I make this all the time don't use the soft white part of the root, peel that away and just use the red hard part in the middle. even then be careful drinking too much of that because they can give you heart palpitations. If I'm in the woods and I'm thirsty I'll also feel the soft part away and use the hard part of the root like an African chewing stick or African toothbrush whatever they call it where you're from.
